no live stage presented in the theaters this year?

in previous years, the tyler hamilton foundation hosted a live broadcast of a key stage of the tour in movie theaters. it was awseome. i assume it's not going on this year??

I would guess not...Lance isn't in the tour making history this year so most Americans could care less. I didn't know it was the TH foundation doing it in the past...if so they were clearly making an attempt to profit off of Lance's domination of the tour. Classy.

it appears to have been dropped faster than me in my first cat 5 race.

really a shame, it was a whole lot of fun. i just wish they would give us a chance to be cycling fans. no venue anywhere does anything to support it. not even in NYC, which has a rather large cycling population and plenty of people who would come out and watch the tour if it were broadcast.

Same here in the SF Bay Area. The theater was packed last year, even with a 5:30 am start time.

I have a digital projector.
You bring cable or sattelite feed and a sound system to Vermont, and we will project it for free.

Deal?

Used to be one here in the DC area at a Cinema and Draft house... it wasn't related to the Tyler Hamilton foundation, it may have been a Lance Armstrong Foundation thing... they would show a mountain stage. I couldn't find on this year in a quick google search.

I wouldn't mind doing that on a Saturday. Post if you find it!

They did it once...it was two years ago and was a fundraiser for MS, the disease that Hamilton's foundation raises money to cure and whose victims they support. Tyler's foundation is a non-profit 501c3...you can't profit off of something if you are a non-profit. And when they did it, it was acutally after Tyler had pulled out of the Tour (of course they did not know that he would not be in the race when they scheduled it)

Well, if you can't watch it in a theater, how about IMAX?

http://www.azcentral.com/community/p...max0714Z3.html

Quote:
To celebrate the opening of the theater, the Arizona Science Center will team with Bicycle Ranch on Saturday for a morning of bicycle riding and Tour de France viewing. Valley bike riders will gather at the Science Center at 5 a.m. for a ride through downtown Phoenix. At 6 a.m., the riders will return to the center to watch two hours of live coverage from the Tour de France on the new IMAX screen.
Lucky bastards.
