Eddy Mazzoleni and digging deeper into the whole doping thing..
Eddy Mazzoleni has been driving the pace for T mobile up the climbs in the Alps the past few days. And doing a very impressive job of it. But Did you know...
In 2004 he was suspended because he and some other Italian riders were talking on the phone with a doctor known in the peleton as "ali the chemist". Transcripts of some of the the calls led authorities to uncover a supply network of blood transfusion equipment/bags etc.. Mazzoleni was quoted as saying "I did 4,000 units for Sunday subcutaneously... and I'm racing Saturday... For Saturday, are there any problems?"
So He was banging 4000iu's in 6 days prior to a race, synthetic Epo can be detected about 3-4 days after its use, so he would have been fine, but here's where things get interesting. He was also talking about trying to get some more drugs into the country, through england or spain and mentioned that his girlfriend might be able to help....
His Girlfriend was Ivan Basso's sister, and she is now his wife. Small world eh?
Juicy tidbit: He was Cunego's roomate the year Cunego won the Giro

Hey Mr. Euro you just witnessed AMERICAN guts and determination. Of the same type that saved your lames A$$es from the nazi's in WWII. My grandfather lost an eye in france several months after he landed in Normandy. He always thought that it would have been alot easier if America waited for Hitler to attempt to land over here. he said it would saved alot of energy...I agree that and the fact that I wouldn't have to listen to mouthy Euros such as yourself.
