Gels, power bars, little ham or turkey and cheese sandwiches, some jelly and butter sandwiches as well, Also baked potatos, eaten like an apple believe it or not. Candy Bars sometimes too.

oh yeah, i did forget that bit. I wonder if its still the old school stuff you can get some places around the globe., with actual cane sugar instead of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) stuff sold in the US.

Good question. I had the sugar cane version in Mexico last month while on my honeymoon. Dang that was good, though maybe being thirsty after being on the beach and in the ocean for a few hours may have had something to do with it. Oh, and it's even better mixed with a bit of rum too.

Cuda: I'd imagine in Tejas you could find a little Mexican grocery that carries Mexican Coke (La Cosa Verdad).
I was reading somewhere that they have sandwiches with ham, cream cheese, and jam on croissant. That actually sounds really, really good.

Phil had a spread laid out on their breakfast a couple years ago. It was full of rolls, pastries, danishes, cereal, oatmeal, fruits, coffee, tea... for a single rider! They eat around 5000-7000 calories a DAY!

you can safely add another 1000-1500 to that for a rider during a 3 week tour...
