Nothing to loose now. Just get stage wins. Let load up on some testy!
anyone agree?
Maybe not, then again.

He took a vacation the day before... and probably could win that stage the way he did, as clean as usual. TdF has some big penalties this year if you get caught doping, so he would have plenty to lose.

hey!! He was burnt toast yesterday! Just was thinkin outloud! He has
HEART! A burning desire and is a superb leader of Astana. He is the man and truly gave the middle finger to the rest of the field! I guess I just wanted to stir the stinky stuff. eheh

No, just failing to think outloud. When Jan totally cracked aginst Pantani he lost less than 10 minutes. No way Vino cracked enough to lose 20. He cracked enough to lose 3 (when he really could not afford to lose 10 seconds) and then decided GC hopes are gone so ride like someone without GC hopes. That means just going fast enough to be sure of not being eleminated on time and see what he can do tomorrow.

I really doubt a rider is going to dope any more or any less based on such things as this. For a rider of his ability, it made sense to just take it so easily that day, and not too surprising the change today. He's doped as much as he usually is, however much that is. Relative risk doesn't matter if they can't get caught anyway... this is why riders still doped in 1998, 1999, and they still are in 2007.

I was thinking about this today... the situation is similar to what happened to Floyd last year (loose a ton of time on one hard mountain stage, come back to win the next one), but it seems that Vino is liked enough (and out of the GC enough) for nobody to care....

Landis lost 10 minutes while going at maximum effort. Vino lost over a half hour by taking it easy.

Actually, one of the official prosecutorial statements at Landis' hearing was that his good/bad/good results were indicative of doping. Now anytime a rider has a surpringly good result (other examples: Linus Gerdemann on stage 8, Juan Soler in stage 10), is it any wonder that Fred Q. Fan wonders the same thing?

Botto. Has been absolutely spectacular with his calls this year. Between Ras not having any chance to win the TdF and this thread its been truly classic.

Astana Quits Tour!

Alexandre Vinokourov’s positive blood test announced Tuesday has stunned everyone from riders to organisers. Since his crash, he has been portrayed as a limping hero of what, so far, has been a marvellous Tour. Now, he seems to have been caught introducing homologous blood into his system just before the time trial he won in demonstrative fashion.
