Road bike on the TT

Did anybody see the rider who finished the TT on a road bike? What was the story?

Unnecessary expense and hassle. Many of the riders just need to finish within the time limit. They don't need a TT bike to do that.

Yeah, I saw him - he had crashed heavily, and presumably tore up his TT bike. I seriously doubt any ProTour team does not have at least 1 TT bike for even their slowest domestique.
