"Grey" Jersey?

What would you guys think about adding a "grey" jersey -- one for the best rider over 32. Even if it's informal, like the lantern rouge, I think it might be cool to do. As a side benefit, it might also provide something for some of the older riders to work towards, so they aren't so tempted to dope to stay relevent against the young guns.

I don't know, I just had the thought. Not really much different in philosophy from the maillot blanc, right?

It all depends if Viagra is on the banned substance list. Perhaps they could be the sponsor!

Maybe you could put some well-placed liver spots and very hairy shoulders on it too.

Eric Zabel, he is in every sprint but ends up with place 3rd to 5th, he deserves the jersey!

Perhaps it would be a cool idea to have a few more "interesting" jerseys...

Grey Jersey: to the best placed "over 32" rider on GC
Red Jersey: to the lantern rouge
Lime Green Jersey: to the rider with the coolest name...my vote would be Amets Txurruka
Clear Jersey: to the best placed GC rider who seems invisible and gets the least amount of ink in the press (Menchov?)
Black & White Striped Jersey: to the most antagonistic rider

Got any more?

I think the gray jersey should be printed, similar to the kom one, with little images of wheelchairs. Maybe the lantern rouge should have a little blinking red light on his bike.

OT:

Funny...there's supposed to be a "Yellow Cap", for Leaders of the Teams Standings, and a "Red Number", for Fighting Spirit Standings...but I've never seen them or heard the commentators talk about it.

I've seen the red number. I'd love to have that in our collegiate conference. Have you noticed that some riders have yellow numbers? I believe that that is for the leading team on the team gc.

The leading team wears numbers with yellow backgrounds. The red number (the number itself, on white background) is the 'most combative' rider from the day before. Look for Arnaud Gerard from FDJ (#164) to be wearing it tomorrow.

If I remember correctly a few years ago, like half the peleton had a prescription for Viagra. I have not looked through the list of banned substances recently, so it might have joined the list of banned substances.

Go back to the 2005 and 2006 threads in this forum on the Blue King of the Malfunctions Jersey.

The brown jersey - the first rider to have to drop out of the tour due to intestinal problems .
