Vande Velde coughing?

It seems like Christian Vande Velde is coughing the last few days worth of interviews. Is he sick or something? Do teams let information like sickness go or are they secretive about it?

thin, cold air = coughing.

might be a mild case of exercise induced asthma as well.

I have that sometimes, and I end up coughing in a similar manner. Most of the medicines that would be effective in helping (if this is what it is), could get him disqualified.

I think people can get some small doses of stuff for a medical excuse, but they risk going over and getting dq'ed.

+1. Thin, cold, dry air + big lung searing efforts = 'pursuiters cough'.

Just pointing out that Vandevelde's interviewing journalist was also himself short of breath trying to ask the questions - and I know for certain the journalist didn't tax himself - it's the altitude and hydration. They need to let him cool off and grab some water before they ask him to wax poetic about the day.

I thought the doctor told him "as needed", and didn't bother to tell him that two a day was all that WADA said he could use. Having a similar condition, I empathize with him.

l'Alpe d'Huez tonight...we might see a repeat of the the Gert-Jan Theunisse "refund", where the day's takings were deposited on the tarmac just after the finish line.

I think they called it something. "Track Cough" of something like that....there is a name for it.

Personally I tink the interviews with the Slipstream ride have been the most REAL interviews I have ever seen...they all seem close to tears and spent....pretty much how I would be if I was there an just watching it...

LOL

It's a sampling problem. Few riders are interviewed to begin with and then you only see very few of those - three or four at most?

I heard the cough too and was concerned. Of course, after reading this thread, (Okay, I admit I didn't read EVERY word of it. ), I'm feeling a bit relieved that the cough is just from the extra effort in the thin air...

Right? (hopeful look)
