tdf dvd's or video

Hi
I am looking to purchase tdf dvd's or videos from the 1985-1991 era - mainly american cbs network coverage (from 1985-1989) and american abc network (from 1990-1991). Does anyone have any of this material or know a contact or persons that can help me. I am desperate for this material

www.worldcycling.com has DVDs of racing from some of this era, the 1989 TdF at least, maybe more, but I don't know if any of the footage was shot by CBS or ABC.

Your not going to find broadcast company videos because the company (CBS,ABC)does not own the rights to the coverage....

They would have purchased tape from a main broadcaster and only had a license to package it for a regional broadcast...so unless someone had taped it,it can't be shown again.....

After a few years it becomes an archive item, but the rights to the original tapes are still with the original supplier....so all tapes and DVDs made by another company would need to go through them

Hi Rex
thanks for the information, I have heard the same, Im pretty sure that the www.worldcycling.com tape you mention do not have the same ABC or CBS content.

I have seen some of the ABC and CBS clips on YouTube and was looking to download some of the files and put them onto dvd's but not sure how you go about doing this. Not sure if a HTML file can be put onto dvd discs to watch back through a dvd player/tv. Do you know if this is possible?

Hi Burningman
thanks for this information, I was kind of aware of the copyright restrictions on the release of this stuff, but as an alternative I have seen a lot of the CBS and ABC footage on YouTube, I was wondering if I can this downloaded YouTube footage onto a dvd so I can watch through a dvd player/tv. I dont know if you can copy a saved downloaded HTML file onto dvd? Do you know?

Dear Socalrider
I would be interested in obtaining a copy of the dvd of all the you tube videos you have. Could you please provide a list of the videos you have available and is there a cost?, if so could you let me know how much? How many dvd's are there and can you post them to my address. Look forward to your reply

I have some old CBS and ESPN coverage of the Tour de France, Tour de Trump, and maybe a few other races that I recently transfrerred from tape to digital... I'd like to put some of it on YouTube... would that be a violation?

Not a problem.. CBS and ABC could care less about old cycling coverage.. I have had my videos posted for over a year with no problems..

tdf dvds

Dear Socalrider
I would be interested in obtaining all of the Tour de France dvd's you have from 1985 to 1991. Just to confirm the following
1. is each year's edition on one dvd?

2. How much is each dvd?

3. is all the footage from the cbs (1985-1989 era) and abc (1990-1991 era) tv networks include commentary from Phil Ligget and John Tesh and music by John Tesh and is the same footage as what I havewatched/seen on You Tube (which you stated as your uploads )

4. Is the NTSC format (US and Canada) ok for Aust? I think it should be because I bought a dvd from the states recently and it worked in my machine

5. What do mean by retail versions? what is meant by live same day coverage or network coverage?

My goal is to obtain as much footage of the CBS and ABC coverage from this 1985-1991 era which included music soundtracks ( mainly John Tesh and I think even Yanni music was used in the coverage)

Hope this is all the info and questions you need to satisfy my request. Waiting on you response in anticipation and thank you for all you help so far

Murray
