hmm, im not sure, seems like he was just a natural reaction to grab on to something as he was going into the barriers and accidently swung him into the barriers, sure looks bad but i really doubt someone would do that on purpose...

You'll see that Bos was already on the barriers BEFORE Impey went down.

Alright, strong language redacted.
The footage speaks for itself.

Dear me. The level of stupidity on this forum amazes me sometimes. There are plenty of ways to take someone out delibrately without nearly killing yourself in the process.
Bos certainly deserves a suspension for riding idiotically and dangerously. To state categorically that he intentionally risked his life and threw himself down at 60km/h to drag Impey down with him is beyond ridiculous.

Indeed, things like this happen ALL THE TIME when the top sprinters go for victory. They push and punch other riders aside, the pull their jersey's, it's all in the game. Similar to what happens underwater during a water polo match. Sprinting is a dirty business. People who do not realize this have simply no clue what going for victory in a packed group is all about. It's just that 99 times out of 100 the result isn't a crash like we see here. Theo Bos probably hung on to Impey's shirt on purpose but to say that he pulled him to the ground on purpose is ridiculous. First of all because Bos was going for a stage win and not for a near suicidal crash going to the ground together with Impey.

Looks to me that he was desperate to stay up, and may have thought grabbing onto a rider outside him would pull him away from the barrier. The consequence was horrific though.

I wonder if Bos' track instincts kicked in. In track racing you hold your line, quite different than bunch sprints on the road. Maybe he intended to push Impey away so that he (Bos) wasn't pushed into the barriers.

When I first saw this, I was thinking that this was a horrible example of what people will do to keep others from winning. But looking at it over and over I think that I'm going with the opposite end. It really does look to me like Bos was desperately trying to keep himself from going into the barriers, and was trying to throw Impey ahead, giving himself room to move right. It did go incredibly wrong for sure, but I can't see how this was an intentional act of crashing Impey. Anyone seen any follow up on this in the media?

I just watched that video about 20 times. I hate to say it, but it definitely looks exactly like he grabbed Impey and pulled him over. He wasn't trying to save himself, he grabbed the yellow jersey and yanked, period. Why? Hard to tell.....

So unless you participate in the sport you have no business following it as a fan? Hope that news doesn't make it onto the Nascar, NFL or MLB circuit or the American economy would really fall a part!

Sorry but this is a clear and deliberate attempt to throw Impy off his bike. Why Bos would do it only he knows but there isn't much here to give any indication otherwise. As he comes up behind DI you can see him reaching out to grab his jersey - if he were bracing himself it would be with an elbow while is hand was on the brakes.
He accelerates to come up alongside Impy, slings past him and then throws Impy ahead - Bos is a track rider ... this was a deliberate attempt to sling Impy.
There is no collapse of the peloton into Bos - Impy starts to get squeezed a bit but is holding his line throughout the frames. If you note at the very start of the footage you can see Impy and Bos behind him - the camera tightens up on the leaders until Bos comes back into frame and that is when you see him sweep past, grab the jersey and throw his arm (with Impy attached) ACROSS his body.
Lifetime ban - nothing less.
As well - I'd be shocked if Rabobank doesn't take a fair amount of heat - seems like that team and its management is falling a part
