Please explain to me

How in the world Bert Grabsch is the World Time Trial Champion? I know that Cancellera didn't compete, but Grabsch's performances in recent time trials has been less than stellar for the "world champion". He finished 98th today, almost two minutes back.

Well today's course didn't suit him -- he's a flat power course rider. Then again, he did look like he's been hitting the bratwurst and beer with abandon. I can't believe he won't get timed out on the first mountain stage unless he loses about 50lbs between now and then.
