Mountain stages without ...
mountain finishes are a waste. The sprinters aren't around at the finish and nothing happens in the GC competition. The last two days in the Pyrenees were boring.

I beg to differ.... Mountain stages that finish in the mountains are one thing..... Mountain stages that finish 70 Km after the summit............................. suck.

How hard is this to understand? There is a sticky at the top of the main forum asking for all Tour threads to be in the Professional Cycling forum or even Road Racing. Pretty damn simple if you ask me.

Seriously? Are you that inept that you can;t scan the thread titles and decide which ones you want to read and participate in? I mean come on...OK it may be annoying if you HAVE to read every one but I doubt that's the case.
And in terms of clutter, have you ever looked at how many pages and threads there are on this forum? I bet at some time in your time here, you have posted an identical thread topic. It happens...enjoy the rest and go and watch the tour (tomorrow).

Here's my response in another thread why Sunday wasn't boring:
If you were expecting a significant move affecting GC, there was about a 99% chance going in you'd be disappointed.
I saw amongst other things:
1) Armstrong himself shut down the early break when he didn't like the mix of riders.
2) Asatana putting a man in the break
3) Jens in the break to drop back to the Scleck brothers if necessary on the Tourmalet4) A potential KOM winner step out in Pellizoti
5) AG2r workin at the front to keep Nocentini in Yellow (demonstrating why Asatana wants AG2R in the jersey and there recruit help controlling the race.) And Astana not pushing the pace on the Tourmalet, in order to keep from hammering Nocentini
6) A close battle to catch the break that stayed away.
7) A neat two up sprint with a suprising counter
8) Some incredible Pyranean scenery.
Those are a few things that come to mind.
Now what would really be boring would be TDF with no balance between mountain top finishes, flats, and time trials, where the race was blown apart on the first Pyranean stages, and we knew the winner with certainty 2 weeks before Paris.
You can debate whether the Organizers got the balance right this year, and we really won't know the answer until on the slopes of Ventoux.
But you have to realize that the number of Mountain top finishes in the TDF varies from year to year, and it has always been common to have a number of Alpine stages without Mountain top finishes.
Moreover, every once in a while a Mountain stage without a mountain top finish has lead to very dramatic moves, see e.g. Merckx in 1969.
