Tips for attending Ventoux stage?
I have the good fortune of being in Provence for the last week of le Tour, and am planning on viewing the Ventoux stage. I have been to the region before, and have actually been up Ventoux, but I have never been in close proximity to a stage finish, much less one like this. I am looking for some guidance as to the best way get to and view the final climb.
We will have a car, and my thought had been to perhaps drive up the south side of the mountain, park, and hike over the top and down the north side. I don't think I can get there early enough(like Friday afternoon) to get a parking spot on the north side. But I really don't know what the time tables are going to be like. Any suggestions, tips, insider thoughts would be appreciated.
And FYI - I am going to have 3 non-cyclists and a fair amount of wine in tow, so suggestions or riding up, which I am sure are to follow, won't work.

My bet is your going to run into road closures as early as Friday. Unless someone local responds, I would definitely try to get good local information on what roads are closing when.
What hotel are you staying in? I'd check with the Consierge. Also you might try the police or tourist bureau in the local towns (Bedoin)

I am staying in a private residence. I actually know the area really well, but have never been up close to a stage, so I guess I am looking more for guidance on how people get to the climbs, be it Ventoux or another. I have found a couple of local tourism sites that have some info, but they are very circumstantial. I suspect that we will need to get on the mountain Friday...
