will LA be fined?

from this page:

https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/saxo...ansfer-rumours

"Teams and riders are, by UCI regulations, forbidden to discuss transfers until September 1. Rule 2.15.125 states "Riders and UCI ProTeams may not, before 1 September, reveal that they are involved in negotiations about renewal of their contracts or transfers.

Upon complaint by a prejudiced team or any third party with a legitimate interest, the rider is liable to a fine of CHF 2000.00 and the UCI ProTeam to a fine of CHF 5000.00."

Lance has openly said that he will be transferred to Radio Shack, with a distasteful, and now an illegal timing.

Wow, 2,000 and 5,000. I imagine the timing of that announcement was worth far more than that. If fined, which is doubtful, those could be paid from petty cash. Non-issue.

the PR value of lance showing the world that he's an important guy, and an in-your-face to alberto contador are worth that chump change.......

The petty cash fund must be pretty fat considering it probably contains all the money that was supposed to be spent on the vast private testing to prove Lance's innocence.

Lance is a prick, you think he gives a damn about anything other than himself?

In this instance, I think the timing of the sponsorship/team announcement had more to do with providing value to the sponsor and team than Armstrong directly. Only in that it favored the new team and it's sponsor did it also benefit Lance indirectly.

And you're point being?

You just made my point.
He didnt care about the rules, because going against them at this time far benefit him more than the fine.
Make sense?
In other words, he would rather see his selfish press release come to fruition than bother following the rules. Rules? What rules, I will do what I want so long as it benefits me.

I don't think Armstrong will be fined. Going on their past track record, including this year, the UCI has never sanctioned Armstrong even when he has violated a UCI rule.

If you read my post a little more closely, you'll see that I believe the larger beneficiaries in this case to be the sponsors and not LA directly. I also didn't imply that he "didn't care" about the rules, just that the fine was much less than the potential benefit.

Have you ever heard of taking the "good foul"? Think about it in those terms. Even if anything ever comes of it, which I don't will, as the UCI and ASO are both so thrilled that LA is back.

If you can't see this for what it is, you're in for a long hard life of disappointment.

By the way, those amounts are in Swiss Francs. They are pretty laughable amounts.

See the original post.

By discussing his riding for Radio Shack before 9/1, he has violated a UCI pro rule.
As noted above, the publicity of this announcement during the Tour is so much more value than the proscribed fine, the chump change fine is pretty good value.

In view of Vinos statement about Lance being gone from Astana next year, not even sure UCI would invoke the penalty.

Lance will just take off the front wheel of his bike and hand it to the UCI and say, "Here you go...I want the change."

Apparently several members of the Astana team also showed interest in transferring to the new Team.. Will they be fined too.

Lance wasn't being paid, he may not have even been on contract, so the whole thing is probably moot.

7000 for an otherwise free, prime time commercial seen world wide. That sounds like a bargain.

+1 - don't bother yourself having a dialogue with Howzit - much like eradar, bellweatherman, and our favorite RR, you aren't going to win. You'd have to take mind altering chemicals to wrap your head around their logic and way of thinking (sorry boys).

Or, going back to my original assertion ... maybe it is lead poisoning ... because I think all of them are pseudoaccounts and it is just a guy we all know from MN who is trying to build up support for his anti-Lance crusade ...

Please read the original post carefully. As others have stated, Armstrong violated this UCI rule. Armstrong has even been on TV and publicly announced the new team as well as negotiating with other riders about breaking their contracts to join the new team next year. It is UCI rule Rule 2.15.125.

Was Lance under contract? If no, then no issue. To whom? JB? If JB, then again, no issue. They LA and JB have announced a new sponsor for their already existing team. Unless the rumors that most of the non-kazak riders are under contract to JB are false, there's no problem. They're not "revealing that they are involved in negotiations about renewal of their contracts or transfers". They're naming their new sponsor for next season.

The rumors about negotiating with any specific riders have been only that, rumors in the press. I've not seen LA or JB publicly state that they're negotiating with any specific rider. Have you? If so, whom and where is the link?

You really should check out the original post as well as the UCI rule 2.15.125. It doesn't matter thatt Armstrong isn't on a paid contract. He is still a rider on a UCI team and has to abide by the rules and regulations of all the other riders. He doesn't get a special pass on this one.

This is hilarious.

From what planet did you arrive?

The reality is that there were probably a thousand of these conversations taking place during July.

Now, back to whatever sport you really follow. See you next summer.

Sorry but you are wrong. The rule says "negotiations about renewal of contracts or transfers". It is not a renewal of contract issue if there is no contract that is expiring, and it is not a transfer if there is no contract remaining.

Then, I guess they should also ask Cadel Evans, Brice Felieu, and all the other riders about this then.
