Team "The Shack" ?

It looks like radioshack is doing a major rebranding, and will be changing their name to "The Shack."

To be honest, I thought they closed years ago. No advertising in at least a decade that I remember.

that's a bold move that reminds me of when the now-bankrupt washington mutual changed their name to WAMU .

Radio Shack's name modification . . . hmmm . . . . S O S . Same ol' *****.

Bummer . . . I was looking forward to calling the the Rat Shack boys "Team Rat"

Now we need to find new names . . .

Team Shack? . . . bland
Team Lance Shack? . . . nah
Team Lance . . . I suppose he'd like that

There's not much wiggle room with "The Shack" . . . . as the team will likely be "The Shack" or "Team Shack" , unless they happen to get another sponsor in the title "Shack Trek" or whatever. Regardless . . Shack is not a catchy name.

Make me think of fried chicken.

Hmmm, "The Shack, home of Lance's Fried Chicken and Batteries" sounds like a good marketing strategy.

As RadioShack have pretty much become a downscale wannabe Circuit City it fits. (Tried to buy a few resistors a while ago, nada)

Nah. They'll just retrofit Walton's track bike.

Radio Shack, huh? Does this mean Team Shack will be riding bikes that were purchased by civilians at an LBS somewhere, returned, resold a few more times, returned again, and finally issued to the team all beat-up and scratched?

The riders will of course be required to provide their home phone number before they can pickup their new (to them) bikes. And they'll also automatically receive a magazine subscription.

I swear every single thing I ever bought at a RS was a return/repack. Ugh I dislike even walking into their stores.

It's a fricken travesty. Radio Shack was so cool back in the 70's when you could still go in and get electronics kits and individual components. I used to get some kind of electronics hobby kit every christmas when I was a kid. These days it's all idiot boxes for idiots.

I hate to be the killjoy, but in the second link it states that Radio Shack will maintain the corporate name and "The Shack" will be the face lift on the retail end. Since the company hasn't changed names, I doubt the team will either.

Good. Because the thought of Ligget going "Here comes Armstrong and the rest of the Shack" is hilarious.
