Bäckstedt withdrew from T d F?

Whoa! I didn't know he'd withdrawn.... anyone have a story on this? I thought he was doing well.

G'day,

Big maggie hurt his back sometime ago....at 196 cm & 98kgs with the tour now pointing 'up'....there probably not much point him pushing himself. Hopefully he can recover for the Olympics,

Cheers,

Hitchy

Heat and Mountains got to him. I was rooting for him too. not to win but to finish. He and I are the same weight. (Although I bet it looks alot better on him....)

I was actually rooting for him as well since he is a "heavier" rider. Of course I want Lance to win but seeing bigger guys out there kicking some ass is nice.

God help him in Greece if he's succuming to heat. Greece makes France look like Alaska!

Well, thanks for the update. I just saw he was doing well, then had withdrawn and wondered what happened.

Magnus' season is already a superb one. After Backsted's Paris-Roubaix victory, you won't hear me 'blaming him' for quitting the TdF.
