Another Tour de France doping investigation, this time re: 2009.

Surely a team wouldn't be stupid enough to dispose of incriminating evidence in bags that would be traced back to them?

The "surely he wouldn't be so stupid as to... (fill in the blank with any and all forms of doping cheating)" argument has died a thousand deaths.

Pro cyclist dope because they think they can get away with it; and while the UCI was exclusively in charge they mostly did. It is not stupid its the way things have been for years, decades even.

Now, are we talking something that's really happening, or just L'Equipe's latest attempt to sell more papers? Among the things I find very suspicious is the timing of the announcement.

yeah and Astana/Bruyneel/Armstrong's twitter rants are far for credible.

Not as crazy as it might sound--the drugs mentioned, while kinda wacky, could make sense depending on what you're trying to do with them.

Sitagliptin could be used to blunt hyperglycemia from glucagon over-secretion, and valpromide blocks an enzyme called expoxide hydrolase, which could have an anti-catabolic/anti-inflammatory effect.

Not too far-fetched to think that they're coming up with new and legal recipes that might work but aren't on the banned list.

Someone has to lick everything before they find the right toad.
