Bicycle races and Universal Sports

It's great to hear that Versus is back on DirecTV, but I would like to ask that all of you who are DirecTV subscribers let DirecTv know that you would like to have Universal Sports be a permanent part of the Choice Package. Last fall they carried Universal in the Choice Package for a couple of weeks, and they showed the Vuelta and the World Championships and reruns of the Giro. this weekend they will have Milan-San Remo. They carry a number of the other so-called "minor sports," including track and field, nordic and alpine skiing, triathlon, etc. It was a wonderful few weeks, but it would be great to have it all of the time and not in a premium package.

What, they are charging extra for something that is free over the air? The nerve of them!

Hey, all the cable companies do (unless you know one the provides basic service for free). That's the nature of the business.

It's more than that. I mean, they make you upgrade to a "premium package" and make money off of it. It's a free over the air station for god's sakes. The solution is to get a roof mounted antenna and tell them to go fnck themselves (kinda like Gary Coleman told that woman on The Insider).

I think one statement about television(cable or DirectTV) could be applied here.......

'It is the nature of the beast'.

A lot of M*A*S*H fans(I am one of them) don't like how it gets' monkeyed around with, between various cable channels(Hallmark, TVLand n' ION) and the various times keep changing.

It is all due to what program(re-run or not) will make the cable operator, the most money.

VERSUS(formerly called the Outdoor Living Network) went from being on the 'Basic' channel lineup to, the 'Expanded' channel lineup. Just more money to fork over to the cable companies.

I've enjoyed Universal's online coverage of Milan-San Remo and Tirreno-Adriatico (check out the last stage for a finish that's as close as it can get..)

The video is good quality -- compared to YouTube - and the commentary is pretty good as well.
