Radio Shack for sale?

Wonder what that does for Lance & Co. Best Buy Pro Cycling Team?

It is an interesting situation. I'm no business expert, but it seems to me that if Best Buy bought it they should just completely do away with the Radio Shack (or The Shack) brand. Nobody trusts it. The word "outdated" immediately comes to mind. I think their focus on phones could work, but under a different name. Call it "Best Buy Mobile" or something. I'm not a big fan of Best Buy, but they have been doing well lately and I think people trust the Best Buy name.

As for the team, they're lucky they have Lance. Like him or not, sponsors want him. I'm sure the team will continue on as normal. I think a Best Buy kit could look pretty nice if they design it correctly.

I think it's wishful thinking on RadioShack's part that they get picked up by BB. Like the article says, they're just putting themselves out there for anybody to bite (and I mean anybody). Hey, maybe this guy can buy them. LINKY

I would like to see Apple or Amazon buy them maybe even Crutchfield.

Crutchfield is way too small. Apple isn't all that big either, and its pricing wouldn't support nearly that many storefronts. amazon.com? Why would it be interested? Storefronts are antithetical to its business model.

You got that right. Go into Charlottesville, VA to the Crutchfield store and you discover that, brick and mortar, they're just a small to medium sized stereo shop with one hell of a mail order component. I was actually disappointed the first time I was in there, having expected at least the size of your usual Best Buy outlet. On the other hand, the quality is just as good as the mail order side.

Apple has over $16 BILLION USD in cash....naw, it's not that big.

I'm no Apple fanboy, but what would they want with the Radio Shack stores? They already have Apple Retail Stores, and I don't think they want that many more of them out there.
