Hey, I like that Flanders thing! A new world to me.

I usually watch the TdF as that's about the only bike racing I can see on TV. Our cable company sucks and it's RARE I can catch a race. But yesterday I watched the ToF on Versus and I have to just share my thoughts: that was ONE COOL race! A small steep cobblestone path making guys dismount and walk was just the neatest thing I've seen. What a race, and I now know there is more to see than just the TdF. Next up, I want to watch the Giro somehow and will catch Paris Roubaix (for the first time) next week.

I know how you feel. I caught all the classics last year on VS. I knew about all these races from reading about them as I was growing up (I've been following the TdF since the days of Lemond). But these classics were never televised in the US until just recently. So needlesstosay, last year I was in awe when I saw Paris-Roubaix and other races. Still in awe!

Flanders and tires?

I had heard of the famous cobblestones, but never actually saw it on TV. Does anyone know if they use special tires to avoid punctures? Are the bikes reinforced in any other way?

Spring one day races are the heart and soul of professional cycling. Flanders is the most prestigious and my favorite with LBL a close second.

You got one shot and one day only to win every year and the weather, pace and roads combine to make them brutal affairs with very little room for error.

stop relying on your TV and use the internet to catch all the races you can handle!

yes they use bigger tires than normal, and stronger wheels, and stronger bikes as well.
