Andy dropped his chain, otherwise it wouldn't have been Alberto's day. Chain drop aside, it would have been just another day of "playing poker."

Andy and Alberto are just very matched in every area except (big except) time trialing, which is Alberto's advantage.

Laggard - The very thread title is a spoiler. I have to change it.

I keep reading where Andy "dropped his chain." After watching this in slow mo number of times, Andy did nothing wrong the chain just popped off for no reason. He might have made some mistakes trying to get it back on but that is hard to tell from the video. Regardless, the issue is whether he should have been attacked.

I hear what you're saying, but I maintain that there's always a reason. Maybe or maybe not the way he made the shift, how much pressure he had on the pedals when he shifted, or a pure mechanical, i.e. not of his doing.

Still, there's always a reason.

I agree. Sometimes its just the way he's gripping the hoods. He could have caused and inadvertent shift by accidentally putting pressure on one of the levers. It seemed like a self-inflicted mechanical problem from his attack. I don't think he was just riding along and the chain just popped off.
