They should just require everyone in the TdF to use 'roids, and level the playing field. Then we won't have to wonder or care, and nobody will have an unfair advantage over anybody else in the race. It'd be weirdly draconian, though.

I say let them all use performance enhancers. Let's see what the human body can really do with all that's available to ingest, infuse, inject or what-have-you!

When prosecutors start poking anywhere near you, the only smart thing to do is:

    1. Shut up.

    2. Lawyer up.

Anyone remember OJ Simpson and his legal team?

What kind of lawyer practices both PR and law????

Lastly, I hope Lance goes down in smoke, becomes a crack addict, goes to jail, comes out, and ends up homeless.

Let's see. The lead FDA investigator is chasing an athlete who has alledgedly used PEDs on a different continent almost a decade ago, meanwhile there is a company responsible for putting 380 million salmonella tainted eggs on the market. A company that has a documented history of violations. The FDA should be more concerned about protecting the citizens of this country.
Why is money and effort being wasted on a possible perjury conviction (see MLB, Barry and Roger) in several years time?

You completely misunderstand American values. The FDA is responsible for letting ALL the drug companies poison American citizens. There was a 25% population increase for children with autism because the vaccines had mercury in them, and the FDA was cool with it. In fact, when people complained, they just let that company export the vaccines to Japan, and Japan's rates of kids with Autism went up within a few years.
As Americans have embraced capitalism, its federal law for corporations to maximize profits. Its a system that the FDA lives under. Lance Armstrong is not a corporation, and therefore the FDA does not turn a blind eye.

If it turns a profit, under a corporate umbrella, its protected by federal law, no matter how bad it is for citizens. If it turns a profit under an individual, its not... simple as that. (BP (British petroleum), McDonalds, Nike, Agent Orange, Halliburton e.t.c, e.t.c

Protecting citizens of this country from what? Tainted eggs, tainted sports - both have societal harm. Is possible illness and death more important? To most people, yes. Does that mean that the FDA should only pursue things at that level? No. I personally don't see prosecution of possible sports cheats as a "waste" of money as you put it. Athletics is big business and the people involved should owe at least some duty to the people who spend their money to watch, and support those athletes. Quite frankly, wouldn't it be a waste if Lance was doping all that time and people were buying U.S.P.S. gear and their tax money was going to support a struggling head sponsor.

I think it's unfortunate that a person who builds his image and business empire on an image is prosecuted in such a backwards way. In an ideal world the U.S. would just have federal laws against performance enhancing drugs(is there one?) with a long enough statute of limitations to be applicable in cases of athletes with long careers.

I'm not saying Lance is guilty, but I do think if he doped he should be held accountable. Fraud may be better in a civil sense. In the end he may be held accountable for the wrong crime. I'm unsure if it would be an appropriate punishment.

This has to do with road cycling in general, not the coverage of races so STFU.

Whether this investigation should be going on or not is immaterial because it is. If lance is smart and brought before the Grand Jury or in front of the fed investigators hell take the 5th . Roger and Martha werent and both landed in jail .

Meanwhile this Balco team seems like a bunch of incompetent wooses who cant convict Barry after years of trying so maybe Lance will skate too.

Yeah, baseball players should all be required to use steroids, too. No one player will gain an advantage over the others from the drugs this way, but, more importantly, I'll be able to go back to never hearing about baseball. Any sport that involves standing around, waiting for something to happen, is too dull for anyone with a pulse.

As usual, in this deal, the Wall Street Journal got more of the story and got it first.

The real surprise to me? Hincapie has hired even higher-dollar help than Armstrong. Hincapie?? YIKES!

    what a great spin:

"we’re all scratching our heads trying to figure out why the FDA is paying for a multi-million dollar fishing expedition, based on the word of the disgraced Floyd Landis, into international cycling events that occurred years ago"

I love it!!! What a great statement, it hits the government for wasting tax dollars, going on yet another unfounded fishing expedition, and berates the "star" government witness, an admitted doping lyer. Nice way to spin the media!!! As an attorney, I can really appreciate a well thought out strategical maneuver like this.
