For L'etape, they did the Pyranees last year, so you would think the Alps this year. They can't do the Galibier stage.Logisitcally, there's not room for 9,000 people to finish on top of the Galibier.
So I'm guessing L'Alpe, although it seems a bit early to go back.

I was hoping for Galibier twice for its 100 year aniversary, like the tourmalet was climbed twice in 2010.
Looks a great route

For the start of the stage in Le Mans, they should do a Le Mans style running start. That would be epicly chaotic.

stoked that they are actually hitting the massif central region instead of just skirting it. definitely
overshadowed by the alps and pyrenees but always produces exciting racing and the scenery is
gorgeous. glad to see the izoard too...

holy hell, climbing the galibier twice. i climbed the telegraphe and the galibier once; it was the hardest day i've ever had on a bike. half of me wants to go back and take another crack at it, half of me is scared to do it. there's no air at 8600'. man, what a tough two days

That article was a disaster. Every sentence was a new topic. And who the hell cares about the doping, we've heard plenty of that, I just wanted to hear about the new 2011 Tour Route!

I climbed the Col du Pas de Peyrol in July this year. It's the highest climb on stage 9 Issoire - St. Flour.
The summit is at the base of a hill called Puy Mary that you can walk up to and maybe mountain bike up if you're super fit.

One intermediate sprint, but worth half as much as a stage win. That means the big teams - and their sprinters - will need to stay active and chase down the breakaways, and that could mean more opportunities to force Cavendish etc to burn themselves out. It could favour the strongmen over the pure sprinters, especially since there seem to be some sharp climbs in the early stages.
