I think the strategy may bhave changed a bit. With 4 riders all close to, but likely not on hte podium what comes to mind the way thigns stand now?

How about making sure you have one rider marking AC? If he goes go with him and work with him. If he gets caught you have 3 relatively fresh riders. If he does not get caught you ahve yellow for a while and if things go really great for good. The downside is the rider iinvolved fries himself trying to stay with AC, disaster for some teams, not for a 4 headed monster.

Perhaps this is obvious, but "going with AC" is easier said than done. It's difficult to mark someone who can drop you......

Looks like Johan's decision is getting easier and easier.

Check the history. He does not drop everyone everytime he attacks. In fact he rarely drops the contenders the first time he attacks. His huge advantage is he recovers quickly and can go again, and again.

The Radioshack guys never were his main competition. But each of them is strong enough to ahve a good chance of going with him when he attacks. Well going with him one time. Doubtful the same guy will be there for the second attack.

But that is to their advantage when it comes to getting a podium spot.

The way things stand now what do you think AC would do if he attacked and only Levi gets his wheel? Will he spend and energy trying to drop Levi? Nope. If there is enough road left where riders can help eachother he would even be happy to work with Levi. AC would be thrilled to work with Levi and deal with the score of seconds difference between them later.\

Levi is just the one where it is painfully obvious. But it still holds for the others, perhaps with the modification of working with them until the last couple of kms of the final climb. And of course the same holds for any of the pure climbers who are poor TT guys. Ac does not nead to drop everyone every time. And the Radioshack guys are a bitdown the list of guys AC needs to drop.

Yep. Horner going to the hospital and 12:59 down. Levi 4:29 down.

I think Radioshack is somewhat caught in the middle as they have the senior citizens and some young blood but very few guys who are in their prime or near their prime. I'm guessing they'll ride their old war horses until they can't go and then bring in the young guys to build up experience. Eitehr way Radioshack isn't going to be winning the TDF anytime soon barring them picking up one of the top talents

This did not have to win but horner looked good at least showing what other ones in the top 10 hasnt (assshllleeeckkkk!!!). Not the bad luck catch with them. I was seeing contador trapped in the accidents again today. Hope Levi and Horner can continue tomorrow.

Levi doesnt have legs to pull or do anytihng with contador in the mountain stages, 2 diferent ways to climb in a matter of fact levi as evans just never respond to accelerations they just wait to catch up with their pace, as for horner hope he can continue tomorrow. Sad for the sky guy.

I think the crashes show that the four man strategy is flawed. Since they could have been focusing protecting 1 or 2 riders instead of having 4 guys all alone. four guys just seems to random and not really something you could call a strategy.

yeah, protecting just one rider, like Sky did, is example of utter strategic perfection.
oh wait...
