I know the rumor mill was going full speed during the Tour... I hope he finds BMC to be as hospitable as Cadel has.

So is the contract like almost immediate? Will he be with BMC at the Vuelta?

True to his word, Thor said he was discontent w/ Garmin Cervelo because of their lack of defined goals and planning. He'll find that at BMC. I figure BMC promised him an all-out team effort to win him Paris-Roubaix and he will be a dedicated domestique for Cadel.

Well that sucks! I'm going to miss watching Thor on BTP But I guess things haven't been the same since Cervelo test team folded into Garmin-Cervelo. Something seemed off with Vaughters at the helm. Bets of luck for Thor at BMC, and hopefully continued success! But its gonna look odd to see him not on a Cervelo.
Has Cervelo commented on Thor leaving yet?

Who cares? Now you people can trade in your Cervelo for a BMC so you can emulate your fanboy homey. This is terrific news. Cervelo blows.

Now just Phillippe Gilbert and then taking over the world. Actually I wonder how it would play out if Gilbert does sign with BMC. Or in other words, are there enough classics to go around?

I'm glad Thor found a new niche. Best of luck to him. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him in yellow, even if it was short lived.

Thor leaving the best one day classics team to go with a team that's built for stage races.

Yeah, that makes sense.

BMC seems to be building a very strong team all around. From Taylor Phinney and Tejay van Garderen (along with Cadel and Hincapie) for stage races and now Hushovd to be the leader at the classics (how upset must he have been with Garmin-Cervelo and Vansummeren this year to pack it in). Depending on where the members of HTC wind up BMC looks to score a lot of wins this coming year.

It makes perfect sense. Thor's scruple was that Vaughters wouldn't put all of his eggs in one basket during a race (specifically the classics), and preferred to improvise on the road. Thor wanted a team that would plan to work for him 100%, and stick to the plan. Being on the best classics team also meant that Thor had more teammates who were contenders to take the win instead of him, especially with Vaughter's improvisational tactics.

Whether he gets what he wants will be seen. Hincapie is always a contender, but also selfless. If Gilbert hops on, that'll change things too. I personally think Gilbert and Thor have different enough strengths and weaknesses to race classics together happily and effectively.

BMC now has like 3 or 4 World champions?? The team will get super strong with Thor in there. 2012 will be an interesting season.

I really enjoyed watching Thor in this years Tour. Seems he has really found a way to win those medium mountain stages. Most of the guys that attack those stages dont have the sprint legs to stay with him at the finish. BMC is looking super strong.
