Hmm, well I didn't have an amazing day today. But I don't think anyone probably had the top5 guys, so not too worried! Only a few more days to hold the lead with a sizeable gap!

Hey, look. Anton scored some nice points today. That takes him off of the podium for the biggest bust of the Vuelta. Cavendish is easily on the top step, but there's still time for guys to fight it out for 2nd and 3rd.

I'd say the big three are Cavendish, Farrar, and Goss, with Kloden, Sastre, Boonen, Freire, Scarponi, and Pettacchi to a lesser degree because not many expected much out of them anyway (except for Scarponi maybe).

I think it is pretty hard to be too down on sprinters given that the course is so unfriendly to them and that many of them are only using it as a tuneup. Big names should not make big expectations. At least Farrar went down swinging.
This Vuelta certainly has become a new youngster's time to shine. I'm just bitter it was Froome (who?) instead of my boy Kruiswick (sp?), who won my coin flip over his Rabobank buddy and big point getter Mollema. Damn.

Looking at the stages beforehand, I thought a lot of them would favor the strongman sprinter types moreso than pure sprinters, but I picked Cav because I missed out on so many points in the TdF. Goss, Degenkolb, and Sagan looked good for those stages with slightly uphill finishes or climbs near the finish, although Kittel and Sutton came forward well.

The TDF wasn't exactly sprinter-friendly, either, and Cav scored a lot of points there. I would have been OK with him if he dropped out before the Angliru or the stage before that, but to abandon on Stage 4 was terrible. He could have won Stages 7, 12, and possibly 13 if he lasted 2 weeks. There were 2-3 more stages after the Angliru that he could have won, as well.
He should have been good for at least 400 points if he had lasted 2 weeks. He ended up with 25. I'm not sure who is a bigger disappointment. Anton was a bust, but at least he won a stage. I expected more from Nibali, but he scored some decent points early. I do like the Scarponi suggestion, but as mentioned I'm not sure a whole lot was expected of him. He would have been a bigger bust if this were the Giro.

I'm not really sure how it has played out relative to how I classify my sprinters. Thor and Cav winning stuff in le Tour the shouldn't have, and la Vuelta almost transcending strongman sprinter finishes into GC bunch sprints. It is a puzzlement.

^ indeed!
Well velogamed, all!
Congrats Eddie on another lantern rouge, and well done Creatre! Top 5% of the whole program. I'm happy to go down swinging to a high performer. The 'cats were again formidable, those Garmin Dogs came out of nowhere, and I was fortunate to just pip DX and miss the podium by an RCH.
My head will be shaking on this one for a while. A very enjoyable, if not exactly predictable, Vuelta.

That was a fun velogames since it was very unpredictable! Thanks everyone for giving me a run for the money, but it looks like my oreo's were just too strong for you! (I have to enjoy my one win, considering I am almost always in the bottom half!)
Look forward to the next fantasy matchup!

Absolutely! And good luck with that winner's handicap team of left handed Russians.
Well done there, too! Can I borrow a few points? Mrs. Beefeater pipped me by a few points in the final standings round, and is now the leader of the All 3 Grand Tours Grand Prix for the household by a handful of points. Agonizingly close. I feel like Fignon, but it looks like I will be making the Gin & Tonics, at least until May.
I hope Mrs. Lincoln enjoyed the play. (sorry, just couldn't help myself)
