Is it just me or is this guy an animal? I feel like every grand tour, he is at the front of the pack in the mountains busting his tail for someone. hell of a climber, workhorse extraordinaire, somewhat of an unsung hero?

Yeah, he's a monster. I saw some power chart recently of when he was pulling on the Tourmalet or something at the 2010 TdF for Contador... He averaged 6.1 w/kg or something, then still hammered pretty good once his work was done.
His riding style is also the most easily identifiable in the peloton cause of the side-to-side rocking thing. He looks like a friggin' animatronic robot.
I'd put him in the camp with Fuglsang, Janez Brakovich, and a few other domestiques who could win some serious races if they weren't working for someone else all the time.

You're unlikely to see that anytime soon, at least not in the big events. The occasional stage win, perhaps, on a mountaintop finish, but unless he's away on his own he's not going to win, because he couldn't sprint out of sight on a dark night. Excellent climbing domestique, though, I agree. And I think he's the only prominent cyclist I can remember who never, ever, closes his mouth while riding. LOL

His style allows commentators to pick him out immediately, even from helicopter shots
He's kind of a muppet on the bike, but heck whatever works
