Floyd Landis convicted in France over doping lab hacking

NANTERRE, France — A French court has convicted American cyclist Floyd Landis in absentia for his role in hacking into the computers of a French doping lab.

The court in the western Paris suburb of Nanterre has given Landis a 12-month suspended prison sentence — six months fewer than the penalty sought by the state prosecutor.

The WADA-accredited lab in the town of Chatenay-Malabry south of Paris uncovered unusually high testosterone levels in Landis’ samples from the 2006 Tour de France, and he was later stripped of his victory.

Prosecutors say Landis and coach Arnie Baker masterminded a plot to hack into the lab’s computer system to obtain documents as they sought to defend the cyclist’s name.

Thank GOD the sentence was suspended. Wouldn't want to screw up his NASCAR schedule.

I can only assume that a huge swath of our population ate a lot of lead paint as children.

I'm talking right out of the can.

Eff him. Not even worthy of our bandwidth.

Wait, we need to get to 3 million, so we can make an exception for today.

That guy is a ******. I don't have any idea why any person would consider him a credible witness.

I'm not saying this is an argument for or against doping on the USPS team, but I am saying that I don't believe a thing out of Floyd Landis' mouth.

Anybody can be found guilty of practically any crime, in absentia (when someone is not their to defend themselves).
And from what I recall, both Landis and Baker lack the ability to hack into someone else's computer.

He knew there were court proceedings; he had the opportunity to defend himself; he had a lawyer present.

They didn't perform the hacking. A guy named Alain Quiros apparently did the hacking and plead guilty; the same guy apparently hacked into Greenpeace's systems on behalf of a French energy company. Two other people were also involved, though their role is not discussed in the article.
