I was under the impression that this kind of thing has always been a part of professional cycling...

Yea I don't see the big deal really. I mean it's not like he bought the whole peloton. He still had to ride into a position in which he could buy off Kolobnev. These guys are pros, they race for money don't they?

watching the video of the end, he does a very respectable job of making it look like he's getting dropped. I've seen other finishes that looked a lot more like someone was bought off than that.
