Yes, these tiny climbs shouldn't give the sprinters any trouble so I have to think Cavendish will be trying to stay in touch with Sagan in the points competition.
I must say that the first three stages have been full of interest. Three cracking finishes.

I think an American will try really hard to win this due to it being the 4th of July ie Independence Day.

The descent at the end should make things interesting. Hope it's a safe Stage for the riders!

I don't think there's an American in the field with the firepower to make that happen. To quote another American with a track record, " motivation won't take you very far if you don't have the legs."

this is the type of stage that makes the new KOM point system suck...there will be no attacks for the point since 2nd and 3rd get nothing. The finish could get interesting if the teams stick together...

Not even Vaughters seems to believe that Farrar has a chance this year. https://bcove.me/ru8xahji
Meanwhile, I'm going for the obvious Cavendish pick.

Hate to see crashes like that. Another Cav vs. Greipel battle would have been great.
You can't take anything away from Greipel. He had the train and the good position, and he delivered in the end.

The best Tyler could muster was 10th place yesterday in a race made for the likes of him and today he was simply nowhere to be seen. You could blame Team Garmin alittle because they have made it pretty clear they are not supporting him for stage wins, (they havn't been near the front at all this Tour) but neither is Team Sky supporting Cav, yet Cav grabs somebodies wheel and still finds a way to win.
Tough break for Cav, but at least he didn't get hurt with the Olympics coming. Great finish by Greipel, although it would have been great to see Cav compete for the win. Good to see Pettachi still has some legs left for the sprints, and Sagan is a year or two away from these world class sprinters, but he will be the man then...

Cavendish must be made of carbon fiber. Bad crash today, a couple of crashes in the Giro, but he doesn't seem to break. He sure looked unhappy on the slow ride to the line.

Riding like its 1990
So can we have another discussion on how "easy it must be " to sit on a wheel and jump around a sprinter for the finish?
You can see that Greipel had the legs and no amount of sitting in his slipstream made it easier for anyone to jump past him. Several front sprinters were pulling on Sagan the whole way to the line. Nothing against Sagan but I hope there's some good head to head action. He should have had a better position.
Rough crash and I also thought about how rubbery Cav must be. I've seen more wicked crashes with him in them than any other and he typically just gets up and rolls back to the line. With a crash like that though I wonder if he's concussed and would be better off either dropping or rolling through the next stage and dropping at the mountains. His chances are small now and he's got a Gold medal to look forward to, Le Tour happens every year, not so with Gold...

Sucked for Cav and I agree that he paid a price for not having his team helping him out. Congrats to Greipel. Sagan was too far back to do anything, hopefully he's learning something. Barely avoiding the crash might have had an affect. I'm having fun watching this year.
