Sagan using a bell??

From cycling news This kid is just teasing everybody The funny thing is that I totally see him ringing Cav in a sprint to let him know he is passing, and i see cav saying... %$#^%$#^% wank,,,,!!!!! aswell

"Sagan's bell against crashes

Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale) not only displays interesting victory salutes. The current wearer of the green jersey also relies on quite traditional bike components in order to prevent him from crashing. After having his chances annihilated by a fall in the finale of Thursday's stage five, the Slovakian asked his mechanic to mount a bell on his handlebar - indeed, an ordinary, black city bike bell. Let's hope it will get him upright through today's stage from Epernay to Metz. HK

That does it...I'm heading to my LBS tomorrow to get one! If it's good enough for the Tourminator, then it's good enough for me!

Why? Because he sprints from the tops and the other riders will take the time to look or move out of his way way if they hear a bell? You could have an air horn and it won't prevent most wrecks in an organized race. He will likely only annoy his competition.

Sagan was having fun with it. Nothing to do with sprinting. He stated all the cars & motorcycles are constantly blowing their horns, now he has a bell. He has a sense of humour & is having fun at the tour, unlike many other riders or perhaps any of his rivals. I hope you don't seriously think he believes people will get out of his way if he rings his bell during a sprint!

Anyone who does wheelies across the line is just having fun. After yesterdays stage I not only saw the wheelie, but another rider heading back down the mountain played a game of "chicken" with him as he approached the finish line. They were both having fun with it and it is nice to see.

I like the bell. Made by Cannondale I see!

no, i dont. that is why the post was dripping in sarcasm. it sounded as of others thought this would move people out of his way. i am all about him having fun but i also think he could really motivate his competition to ride harder is he uses it at the wrong time.

That might give them the adrenaline rush to keep going. It would be fun with friends and teammates but may not be the best move in compition. I remember several competitors making snide remarks to me when I used to run competitively and it ofteng gave me a kick I didn't know I had

Hard to find a bell w/ adequate resonance; I'd be surprised if Ti can do it, and Sagan's cdale bell looks like a flick-the-weighted-spring thing not a levered-geared-sprung jobbie so I wouldn't bank on that one penetrating a rollerblader's ipod earbuds either...

It would be interesting to see if Cannondale gets a spike in bell sales the next few weeks

Any guesses on when the UCI fun-suckers issue their emergency ruling on bell standards?

I give it a few days, but then the appeal will still be working it's way through WADA (World Audible Dingers Association) when Sagan is 27.

If Cancellara had it on there they'd take it apart and make sure there wasn't a little motor in there.

It was a good idea because apparently it gets people like you all fired up for no good reason, which is hilarious.

You could mount it backward and then fit a foam fairing around it so it has the same cross section from the bulb to the horn.
