Olympics / David Millar Positive Test

apparently over 100 athletes in various sports had for positive tests, among them David Millar

https://www.mercurynews.com/olympics/...t-says-hes-not

"Although the World Anti-Doping Agency announced this week it had banned 107 athletes this year, a handful of well-known competitors will compete in the Olympics because of special circumstances surrounding their cases. The list includes sprinters Dwain Chambers and Justin Gatlin, swimmer Jessica Hardy, soccer star Hope Solo and cyclist David Millar."

He served his time and has been a huge proponent of anti-dopage ever since.
What's your point?

Millar isn't competing because of "special circumstances". He is competing because the British Olympic Committee's policy of lifetime bans for dopers, which would have excluded him, was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and they were forced to come into line with other countries' practices, which typically impose two-year bans.

What a bizarre post. Now if David Millar tests positive during this Olympics that would be post worthy. I'm not sure lifetime bands are appropriate, but I do admire Millar
for admitting his drug use and speaking out against it.

I just read Millar's book (Racing Through the Dark) and I highly recommend it. Millar is selective on who he wants to throw under the bus and I get the feeling that he isn't telling the whole truth all the time, but you have to give the guy credit for being one of the few to admit that he actually doped. Either way, he served his ban and there's no reason he shouldn't be allowed to compete.

Hope Solo, on the other hand...

I was going to say, "AGAIN?!!!". After all the public service stuff he does against doping nowadays I was quite shocked at the thread title.

Sigh.

I remember people saying the very same thing about Marion Jones, and what happened to her?
