Velogames Fantasy TdeF

The TdeF is now open at www.velogames.com, though caveat emptor while the rider roster stabilizes.

League Code: 23131033

Join in and let the games commence. You can even have Dr. Ferrari help you with your picks. I intend to ponder mine over some performance enhancing whiskey until I'm tuned up for the big race. Watch out!

Interesting that Sagan is in the "all-rounder" slot.

I'll be in! I'm looking optimistic since I didn't get last in the Giro compared to every other time!

It is a puzzlement and it forces some big team strategy moves right out of the chute. I'm trying to titrate whiskey into a moment of clarity.

Team Oreo's are in again to defend last year's title and another podium at the Giro.

Good luck all!

Tough deciding how to stack the team up...
Go with big names for GC and fill the team with fodder
or
go with a medium range for a collection of stage wins and podiums?

It'd be a lot tougher if real teams had to work with the same budget!

Had a tough time picking my team, there are a lot of different ways to go. Not feeling too confident, but guess we will see how it plays out.

I feel fairly confident with all the people I've picked on my team except for one. My 4pt pick, Aurthur Vichot. He's gotten a lot of coverage this year and rode a very good leadout victory in the TDS, but I still don't know...

It's odd that you can see other people's teams before the race starts. I vaguely recall that used to be hidden, and I was surprised when someone mentioned it was all hanging out there before the start of the Giro.

I'm pretty sure DXChulo has already picked but he's going to hold off joining the league until the rosters are frozen, so we can't pimp his top secret team.

Not that I'm looking...

I'm glad all your other picks are more solid than Vichot.

^^ Absolutely! And I will be...

a) THRILLED if all 8 of my other "more solid" picks manage to avoid getting a goose egg. It seems I always manage to pick a scratch player some how. I think eddiepliers knows the feeling, too.

b) Happy for FDJ and Arthur if lightning strikes again.

I truly think FDJ is riding their best right now. As for all the others being better, Na.. I picked all 4 and 6pt riders Who cares about the GC, it's all about the grab bag that you get the unexpected finishes from..

I have not found a way that you can delete your team for a given race, one you create it for your username you are stuck it and what's editable. Also no way I know to drop from a mini-league once you join it. But changing a rider on a team before the race start is super simple. At the bottom of your roster, there's a Change Riders link, and you just hot swap in someone within the salary cap.

my team is in, although i have been making changes constantly. i really wish the climber category had more options. i went with wiggins, but i am beginning to second guess that. i bet that even if wiggins wins the overall, cadel will have more points in this game format. also, there are so many great unclassified riders at 6 points that it is hard to choose just 3!

Ha. Honestly I was just busy when the Giro was going on and I forgot to add my team to the league until later on. I didn't realize that they were showing teams before the start now, so I will wait until the prologue is over to add my team on purpose this time.

I just made a few small changes to my team. As usual, I'm not crazy about the options in the "Climber" slots.

Meanwhile, over at nrtoone they have Wiggins at 6 points versus 11 points for Evans and Cavendish. Other 6-point guys: Bauke Mollema, Ivan Basso, Juan Jose Cobo. Samuel Sanchez is at 7. I'm going to guess that Wiggins will be on 95+% of the teams over there.

Yeah, I wish they'd go with 1 climber, 1 sprinter, and add another wildcard. This year especially it doesn't make a lot of sense to have more climbers than sprinters. They could even set up a "Time Trialist" category in place of a climber.
