I thought BMX was one of the more interesting sports in the last Olympics. Certainly more engaging than hour after hour of volleyball prelims that NBC seems determined to assault us with again. And if, in the interviews, BMX riders sound half as idiotic as "sleepy" up above, then that would be fun too.
WRT the rest, I've generally found that if you expect UCI to do the dumbest possible thing, you'll rarely be disappointed.

I need to eat more Ham and Mayo if I'm going to match the quality people posting in this thread.
Maybe join a frat and brush up on dooshalese.

"inho" - lmao
I admit that I havn't watched much BMX racing, but what I've seen looks really pretty ridiculous - grown men on tiny little bikes in full race leathers, really?
This whole X Game stuff is purely nonsense IMHO. This generation has taken activities that my generation did for fun when we were kids and had long outgrown and somehow made a "sport" of it and do it into there adult years. I think these grown BMX'ers, skateboarders etc. need a real job...
Just one mans opinion....

"My friends hate it too" hahah! Next time you go out for a ride take a good look in the mirror at the clown outfit you probably wear when you get on your bike. Me and my friends love making fun of you guys.

As my post said, it's IMHO and just one mans opinion, so there's no need to take it personally and be rude.
Now, put on your leathers, get on your tiny tikes bike and ride like the wind!

Anorexic dudes who shave their legs for aero advantage wearing tight little spandex outfits doping up to win laughing at guys who have way better bike handling and pedaling skills.

Sorry, bmx'ers, you aren't gonna win this argument. No matter how much homophobic nonsense you throw out there about roadies, you just simply cannot defend the fact that grown men riding bmx bikes with FULL FACE HELMETS(!!) on simply looks like clowns riding their tiny clown bikes.
But, continue to insult us as you ride your toddler bike, 38-year-old-skinny-jeans-wearing guy.

Who's saying anything homophobic? If you're going to mock guys looking ridiculous on little bikes with armor, why not mock guys for riding plastic bikes wearing garish spandex?
As for "winning" the argument, the ratings and sponsorships will decide if those two Plebeian sports will join the highly respected dope addled sport of road cycling.
Oh, and I can't BMX to save my life, I ride in bibs on a sweet Roadie. But I respect athlete who perform well on any cycling discipline. The fact that some of the great road racers started in BMX only further fuels my disgust with the Roadie Snobs whining about their "respected" sport being diluted.
Cry harder Mr. Pewterschmidt.

Physics? Maneuverability? Can't top a double too well on a road bike, and not too hot on 26 inch wheels.

Bottom line is that they are way too sensitive.
Oh...and most of leadville is done between ten and twelve thousand feet of altitude.
Lance beat Weins (six consecutive wins) by about 17 minutes. Levi beat Lance's time by about 12 minutes. Wiens is in the mountain bike hall of fame.
The defense rests.

Sleepy - It's not about being roadie snobs. It's just that you cannot compare road racing to BMX racing just because both use pedals. It's like comparing whiffle ball to baseball.
Road cycling has a long, illustrious history going back over 100 years. A spring classic can shut down a country and draw hundreds of thousands of spectators in a single day and a single stage in the TDF might see over 300,000 fans lining the road to get a quick glimpse of the riders. No other sport can compare with that. Racing for nearly 21 days straight? Thats impressive anyway you look at it. Then there are the legendary names in the sport who are hero's to so many cycling fans long after they are gone.
I look at BMX racing and X Game stuff as dumbed down craziness because many Gen X'ers don't have the patience to learn about the tactics, strategy, and the skills involved with road racing or even stick and ball team sports. It takes some time and patience to learn these things, so they invent this nutty thing called BMX racing which is immediately understood and visually stimulating, but lacks any real depth. BMX racing IMHO goes right along with Next American Idol, You Can Dance and all the other non sense talent shows that give instant gratification to this generation, but have no depth and no chops, hence the quick rise and quicker burnout. All of these X Game "sports" are throw-away activities, where anything that anybody can come up with can become the next great thing for a couple of years.
You've got to have substance and content to last and I don't think BMX has either...
Just my humble opinion...

Thats not why they do that so you eliminate yourself from participating as it's evident you do not know what you're talking about.

You tell me it's not Road Snobbery and then proceed to belittle BMX?
Sheesh.
BMX racing was going on before the whole Gen-X craziness with those darn kids listening to Nirvana.
As for the whole "illustrious" history and the team tactics, meh. Do something long enough and it has a history.
Maybe in 40 years we can have geriatric BMX fans lamenting the sport of Unicyle Racing taking place at the X Games.
We're getting there with MTB racing.

BMX = Bicycle Motocross. Seems to me that the least these athletes could do is ride bikes that fit
