One thing for sure is that Wiggo is doped to the gills on good luck this year.
1. TDF route completely in his favor
2. Tons of crashes in the TDF, none of them affecting Wiggo
3. Contador banned
4. Andy Schleck injured
5. Cuddles in bad form, not even in contention
6. Cancellara injured
7. Martin injured
8. Froome on the same team
9. Wiggo probably in the best form of his life

...talented rider, but seems to be a bit of an ass and lacks class IMO. Twitering "I'm blind drunk and overwhelmed... etc." Is how a champion represents himself in front of the world? I have no problem with any athlete or champion going out and celebrating... just don't act like a dumb teenager on twitter! Sheesh.
We like our athletes to be real people and people we can relate to, not some weird super angelic creep who is SUPER polite and always does the "right thing". American seems at times like PR gone mad.
Anyway im fed up of reading all this anti-wiggins/British sh*t, credit where credits due and stop being whiny *****es. You don't like him, don't look, don't listen, don't read.
the amount of american/foreign athletes i could lay into is unreal, they collectively (mostly the Americans) have displayed some of the most idiotic behaviour mankind has ever witnessed but because i don't like them, i don't read about them and i don't talk about them.
cheers for that

You Americans are weird. Getting "blind drunk" is OK but don't tell anyone?

As for the politically correct stuff, I'm not a fan of it in general, but champions are generally expected to act a certain way, be inspirations, role models for young athletes and represent their country admirably etc. Sadly, this doesn't happen often enough in sports these days (with athletes from all over the globe... look to our own NBA and NFL for examples of some sorry sacks). Kudos to Wiggins for his actions on the bike, not so impressed with him when he's off it though. ;-)
Just because I'm not a Wiggins fanboy doesn't mean I have any issue with brits... :-)

1 The route always suits some riders more than others. Virtually all modern winners are good Time Triallists.
2 If you are a good bike handler (a track rider, maybe?) and ride near the front, you're helping yourself.
3 Contador is a cheat. We're all lucky he's been caught and punished because he has undermined our sport.
4 Schleck can't ride against the clock, fit or not. See 1.
5 Sometimes you don't know how good your form is until you really need it. Even then, you might try to bluff your way through and that often works.
6 Cancellara can't ride the high mountains with the very top guys.
7 Ditto
8 Froome signed a contract, to do specific jobs for a top team. He wasn't the hottest property on the market, because of his health issues. If he stays healthy, he will have decisions to make- as many up-and-coming riders have done, throughout history. Signing and training him was good management by Sky, not luck.
9 Wiggins worked like a slave at his weaknesses (are you listening, Schleck fans?)and lost 15 kilos in weight, as evidence of his commitment. He won time trials and stage races throughout the season, like many great champions have done in the past. He isn't lucky but he has become dedicated. Now let's see which of the young pretenders can match it.

Well it's a good list- but most of that stuff isn't luck, is it?

And while I don't know, on points 6 and 7 he may have only meant that Cancellara and Martin's injuries were allowing Wiggins the stage wins, not GC, and again, since he has no control over their crashes it is lucky for him. Although on that I actually think he would have won the TT's anyway. 2nd and 3rd place were the lucky people there.

I think you've completely missed the point. You're looking at each of those individually, observing the cause and effect, rather than collectively as a series of events, timed impeccably to Wiggo's favor.
Re: Cancellara and Martin, that has to do with the Olympic ITT.
"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity" - not taking anything away from Wiggo since he was very well prepared. But his perfect year... wins in races leading up to the TDF, winning the TDF with two stage victories, and winning the Olympic ITT in his home country... merit alone doesn't get you that.

its not even remotely funny, nor was the original. Its a tad childish to be honest.
you can fight your corner anywhere, I quite rightly have national pride. Seems an alien concept to you. Methinks you're the type to fight when the odds are heavily stacked in your favour but become the epitome of diffidence when things aren't so one sided. Don't worry little one, you'll someday grow a pair. Anyway eunuch i'm done with this conversation, its boring now.
