    Eurosport feeds installing malware ?

When I went to watch Paris - Nice on the Eurosport http://sports-livez.com/ feeds this morning, they kept prompting me to install, on my Mac, what they said was a Flash HD add on.

It proved to be malware called Genieo.

Any members know anything about this?

A quick Google search found these:

Of course it's malware. These are pirate feeds dood, don't install anything. The site you're watching is not owned or operated by Eurosport.

It's operated sports-livez which provides the feeds listed on Cycling fans and Steephill.

Well don't take me wrong but if a user is not able to say if a pop up is real or not and even worse, click to download and worser say yes when installing, then the guy deserves his fate.

Not every one here is internet hip, some are older, some aren't too bright , and some never bothered to learn, but, that doesn't mean that they deserve to download malicious software.

do you need help removing it?

Downloading a free virus removing softwear might even be more malware!

Tricky buisness but a system restore usually helps.

Also installing adblock - this block almost all adverts and will stop this happening again.

Really you fell for that? Who ever clicks on anything those sites bring up? You are going to a site that illegally streams TV channels, and you are surprised when you click on a pop up and it's not what you thought?

PROTIP: When you see these boxes appear, wait, and some of them will go away after a countdown timer. The others will eventually show an "x" but hover over the X first and make sure it says something like 'javascript 0' or something like that. Also, you can look to see if you get a pointer instead of a finger where your mouse is. That will clear the pop up. DO NOT CLICK WHEN THEY TELL YOU TO INSTALL ANYTHING, OR EVEN 'X' OUT A POP UP UNLESS YOU ARE SURE IT IS GOING TO CLOSE IT!

...when attempting to illegally stream a TV channel. I should be able to do whatever I want on the internet without consequences!

But seriously, if you didn't already know, you can't stream Eurosport from their website, it doesn't work. Any of the pirate broadcasts are in "that" part of the internet, so user beware!

As I understand it, Apple either no longer supports flash or will soon no longer support flash. I go to Steephill.tv to watch races and it's not the best quality but it's free and I have not ever had a malware problem.

all right, guys i'll spoonfeed once...

install a program called utorrent. you will probably need help configuring, so go here to get started.
install a program called peerblock. it blocks known bad actors in the p2p world. not bombproof, but it weeds out obvious problem IPs.

google 'cycling torrents' and go to the first site in the results. sign up first, then log in.

    you're welcome.
