in recent years, it seemed (to me) that petacchi's leadout train for those 4-5 years was the most automatic win in the grand tours.
so much so that i discounted his sprinting prowess vs the other sprinters of the era. then, in one of the gt's near the end of his dominance,
his train broke down due to a crash or some such and isolated, he came from way back without help to nip another sprinter at the finish for the win.
really surprised me. that being said, it was a joy to watch zabel's consistency year round while many of his peers would bail out in the mountainous
