As a Blackhawks fan, I don't care right now, but I am frustrated with NBC's coverage.

If you don't mind watching them a day late...cyclingtorrents.nl has become my new best friend.

Usually they're posted shortly after they air, the HD eurosport ones sometimes have the commercials left in, but if you wait a day or two, usually another source will pop up with no commercials. Even with commercials, it's relatively easy to skip forward.

I just hope this stupid hockey crap is over by next weekend, or else we'll never know when to watch the Tour. I hate this channel!
I just saw that our friends at NBC SportsNetwork will be playing 100 Years of the TDF again on Friday, 8PM. So at least we'll get a fair shot of seeing this movie at a half decent time for a change.

    Anyone ever seen it?

I caught the tail end of it last night; I think it got chopped a bit to fit into the schedule; they went from Coppi to Indurain without stopping in between. I saw that they're running it again on Friday, so set the DVR to record it in the hopes that they might actually show what their schedule says they'll show, instead of throwing in some random highlights package again.

OK, so they did chop it...it went from Coppi to Indurain, just as you said, and I thought that was odd. I will definitely DVR it on Friday. Looks like no NHL game so there's a chance I can get the whole thing.

But what I did see, I must say it was definitely not an NBC production. It was VERY anti-Armstrong (that's fine, he deserves it), but in the same breath, they painted Virenque in a much more positive light, even though he was just as big a doper as any of them, part of the first "big" bust, in Festina. They didn't spend any time at all discussing how he was also a "convicted" doper. Also, they ended it with glowing praise for Thomas Voeckler. Thomas Voeckler? I like him, he's got such style, but I thought it was odd that they basically said "no way he ever doped, he's outspoken against it". It was somewhat biased, to say the least. Overall, this was a very interesting program, from what I saw that wasn't chopped for NHL highlights. I just wish people (everyone, from news articles, to cycling websites, to shows like this) would treat all these dopers the same. If you want to bury Lance Armstrong, that's fine, but don't give a pass or even a partial pass to the others who cheated just the same.

Whatever, it was far more interesting to see the footage from the early years, all that retro stuff is SOOOOOOOO badass!

I love the old steel bikes myself and I'm really looking forward to seeing them, along with riders in hats and wool jerseys - no helmets! Very cool!

Had to explain to the wife that Casartelli hit his face, not the top of his head, and there was no way to be sure a helmet would have saved him. She couldn't believe that even as recently as the 90s helmets weren't mandatory.

Is NBC Sports doing in the live streaming package again this year? I can't find anything about it on their site.

I can never seem to find anything about the live stream for $30 on NBC until the day before or so. I'm hoping this works but i'll look into the other options.

For the cyclingtorrents.nl folks, is this a simple thing to set up and download? I'm wary of viruses and keep my computer use to basic sites and can't afford to be too cavalier and get a locked up computer. I use simple avast virus protection, so I'm no fortress.

I have never had a problem...the mods seem to keep things pretty cleaned up...for the tour, there will be tons of people downloading - if you aim for the popular vids with lots of seeders/downloaders, you should be safe. If there was a virus, someone would speak up immediately and that file would be removed from the site. Also, it looks like a lot of the uploaders are the same for each video. I'm guessing it's the same guys ripping them from tv and uploading them to the site. From my experience, the uploaders want the street cred and wouldn't do something to harm that within the community.

I've also never heard of a virus being in a video file, there would have to be some kind of .exe file in the torrent somewhere.

I would avoid public torrent sites like the pirate bay, etc - those are the sites with mislabled files that will get you in trouble.

I finally watched this last night. I always remembered not liking Lance back in the day but now that I've gotten more into biking I couldn't remember. Honestly, the doping thing doesn't bug me. After watching this it's pretty apparent they all do it, even nearly 100 years ago they were popping uppers left and right for more energy.

So they finally get to the Lance part of the movie/documentary and I'm honestly moved by the fact that he won after his teammate died, blah blah blah...I'm even tearing up a little. Then they get to Lance's comeback. Then I remember, the reason why I never liked him was his cocky american jock attitude...that "America is the best at everything and America owns that race, they won with an American team, and American sponsor, on American bikes...here's me and President Bush, yay captitalism" - ugh, eff off Lance.

I also caught the full version ofthe "100 Years" lastnite, much better this time without them chopping out the 1950's,60's,70's, 80's for a post game hockey interview. The full program is spectacular. THe 1990's onward portion was mostly interesting just for reviewing within the context of the recent doping revelations but I thought the film footage and comentary from the earlier decades was fantastic. Really helped me gain a better understanding of the history of the race and all of its extensive doping history during every decade since inception, not just the 1990's onward. The film footage of the early years was captivating and almost haunting. As much as the racing, I just liked seeing the film of the peoples faces, clothes, cars, bikes, buildings, crowds from each era. I would love to see a similar film project expanded into a three hour timeslot covering each decade.
