I think the following is true not only for Ullrich, but for Lance and all the others to -

Quote:
However, he continues to deny cheating, saying he was only keeping pace with his peers and still believes his successes were as much down to pure talent and hard work.

"Nearly everybody took performance-enhancing substances at the time. I took nothing that the others did not also take," Ullrich told the German news magazine.

"For me, cheating only starts if I gain an advantage from it. That was not the case. I just wanted to level the playing fields."

"The victories still came down to talent, performance, team spirit and will to win

But clearly Lance was the biggest di@khead of them all, so getting him is all that matters. The rest we all forgive and accept.

To the extent there's any news here, it's Ullrich's assertion that the UCI protected Armstrong. Doesn't sound like he's got any proof of that though.

Did he say that the UCI protected him?
I thought he said he suspected it to be the case.
I did find it funny that he said he knew Armstrong wouldn't get away with it.
