I don't have time to watch 4 hours of TdF every day...
I appreciate the NBC network covering the entire TdF, but who the hell has time to watch it all. I am surprised there isn't a 1 to 1.5 hour summary show. That is more than plenty to hit the highlights of the day.
Yes, I know I can record it, which I am...it would just be nice to have a summary show every day.

Every other year people complained about not enough coverage. This is a first!

Go to steephill.tv and they have highlights of the stage. I think if you record the 4 hours and skip all of the commercials you will be about an hour and a half of racing.

Of course, NBC managed to time their coverage to cut out 3km from the finish, so had to watch the final sprint online.

Check your guide data. I think the later airings trim out around 1 1/2 hours of racing. I just looked at the rerun today and it's 3 hours long. If you have a DVR you can always fast forward through the slow parts. BTW, there's no way the commercials are longer than the race footage...

I agree. 4 hours is a long time to sit and watch TV. If I don't stream it live at work (in the background), I'll normally watch the first fifteen or twenty minutes and then fast forward to the last hour. That's enough for me.

Here in Belgium we have the luxury to not only have the best commentary (people from Nederland watch our channel mostly) but we also get it in one big chunk without any ads

I have the opposite problem. I can't find a safe and reliable source online to watch the full race.

The Choices ...
1) Watch pretty much the whole thing, starting at 10 pm and continuing to 1:30 am or 2:00 am or whenever it finishes.
Since it is the middle of winter, what else would I be doing at 10 pm. It's cold and dark outside. Might as well be inside watching cycling. The only problem is that I need my sleep so I go to bed before it finishes, except on weekends.
2) Watch the highlights at 6 pm - 30 minutes.
That's enough for me to see the bits I missed after I went to bed. I'm watching the highlights right now since it is 6 pm.
3) Watch the extended highlights at 7:45 pm - 60 minutes.
We haven't watched the extended highlights yet because watching the live coverage the night before and the highlights at 6 pm has been enough. But if we wanted to see something again, we could.
All this coverage is free ... part of the standard TV package. How many more coverage options do you need?

Vacation has been wonderful. Three days of being able to watch the whole stage. Waiting for stage 4.

DVR and fast forward. It's not that difficult.

Yeah, that's annoying. I stayed up late to watch it last night and it cut off with just over 3km to go. I must remember to set the DVR to extend recording by 15 or 30 minutes.

It would be nice if the evening show on NBC Sports was more highlights, commentary, interviews and features. Given that anybody can DVR the morning coverage, just a replay, with a little different commentary added in doesn't add much.
I imagine the problem is the cost and time constraints to produce a show like that every day.

Here's what I wrote when you posted the same comment a year ago. You might want to check the feedback you got on that thread.
Have you thought about not starting the recording until the fourth hour so you're not fast forwarding through three hours you don't care about?

The primetime show is only 3 hours. Knock an hour off your porn watching schedule, and an hour off the 41, and I'm sure you can squeeze it in.
