The Chris Froome thread

Obviously a doper. Obviously. Anyone who argues is lost.

If you listen to the Eurosport or other English-language feeds, Froome is praised as the new Kenyan Jesus. The French feed mocked him the entire way up the climb. "10% grade, time to eat some food, have a chat with the directeur sportif, and lead out the field."

As an American I supported Lance and Floyd and was always insulted when the French called foul. I was duped.

Never again. I only wish the absolute worst for Froome, his family, and everyone associated with Sky. May they get what they truly deserve.

Virenque is absolutely destroying Froome on the French feed now. But you guys ignore that, you fine British cycling fans. You enjoy your nice tans, great teeth, and deep history of cycling greatness. Oh, wait...

FriendlyFred 07-14-13 08:42 AM

It makes me sick to listen to Paul and Phil praise Froome and SKY on days like this. It's so obvious these guys are doping, you'd have to be blind not to see it. There's no way in the world that performance by Froome was natural.

ahmetcan44 07-14-13 08:45 AM

Please, someone tell that we have witnessed the history. Please tell me it's not doping. :(

Caretaker 07-14-13 08:46 AM

I'm lost............for words.

deinonychi 07-14-13 08:47 AM

To me, Sky arranging an illegal "feed zone" for themselves at 10km to go speaks volumes: It says "We don't care about the rules and cheating is okay if the benefits outweigh the costs or risks." Tells me a lot about what their attitude toward doping most likely is.

jecjec81 07-14-13 08:47 AM

His performance is freaking unbelievable to be true.

deinonychi 07-14-13 08:50 AM

Well, let's all look at the bright side. It would appear that the rest of the field isn't doping all that much.

cincipeddler 07-14-13 08:51 AM

Im british, have great teeth, a fine tan and have climbed to 5332meters in Bolivia!!!!

That said, i take your point, i feel very uneasy about it all, impossible not to be suspicious.........i guess the power numbers will be interesting reading?!

As for the food station, thats how i see it as well.......clearly not interested in the rules, ''we do what we want'' mentality.

Have to wonder what was in those feed bags.

RJM 07-14-13 08:55 AM

Sky should get a time penalty for the feed bag thing. Outright cheating right there, right in front of everybody.

Oh yeah, Froome is totally doping.

If you take Froome out of it, it really is a great race. Really exciting, but you just have to forget that stick armed dude is riding.

Grumpy McTrumpy 07-14-13 08:56 AM

they are gonna lock this thread because it's a spoiler.

that said (and because I don't care)

Chris Pharm made a mockery of the field again. Maybe there was something in the food bags they got with 10k to go.

cincipeddler 07-14-13 09:01 AM

I don't get the spoiler thing, just about everyone will have watched today, and if you didn't, common sense would tell you not to log into a bike forum if you are avoiding a result?!

So, is it alright to talk about stage 1 of 2012 yet? Stupid rule.

It truely was "Armstrongesque".

No surprise there, they did the same all during Lance' riding days. Guess everyone loves a winner. I agree, the ride just wasn't natural.

whitemax 07-14-13 09:07 AM

If this guy gets busted for doping, I hope the top 20 on GC are allowed to take him out back and thrash him. The world will never trust this great sport again if he is found to be doping.

Both Armstrong and Liggett were (are?) invested in Sherwin's gold mining operation in Uganda, so Phil and Paul had a financial interest in keeping Armstrong profitable.

reef58 07-14-13 09:09 AM

I think they don't want spoilers in the thread titles.

At least Froome likes to race vs the slog we had last year. I never thought I would see Contador dropped like that in the Tour. I mean spit off of Chris's wheel like a gust of wind blew him back.

And it is pretty pathetic to wish harm on someone and their families over the result of a bike race. Come on

deinonychi 07-14-13 09:11 AM

Do you think it's too early to schedule an appearance by Froome on Oprah for sometime in 2025?

Here is the translation from Virenque: "Totally acceptable and believable perfomance, middle of the pack rider in Continental races for years, average clocker (time trialist), and can easily respond to attacks made by a world-class Colombian that weighs 12kg less than him in a Grand Tour on a 10% ramp, like Sir Dave, (mockingly) I also don't believe in physics, logic, or sharing performance data, I just believe in heart. All you need is heart. All the greats have heart, guys like me, Pantani, Vino, Di Luca, Armstrong, it's just heart. Unfortunately it's a heart of darkness."

That "Heart of Darkness" quote will be the headline tomorrow.

Takes a cheat to know one. If anyone follows and listens to Virenque, he is a good man with a crazy life and made a ton of mistakes, and he's a bit of a jackass, but he doesn't just insult riders.

But the French were just merciless, completely honest, and absolutely brutal over those last 20km.

The strangest part for me was just watching Froome non-stop chatting away. I've never seen that before. Everyone else is on their limit, he's popping energy gels, eating something in his other hand, and talking into his team mic.

Thread title edited for less "spoiler like" wording. Leaving this one open, but please read the sticky in the forum about Doping speculation. Last I heard from several sources that have been reviewing Froome's numbers is that he's still within the 'not likely doping' range. I hope that's the case, but as with everyone else, I have some reservations due to recent history.

No doping speculation? Good bye.

Okay, I misread the sticky, I've been out of the loop it seems in these parts. Returning to our previously scheduled doping speculation thread...

The only thing more laughable than the failed American police/surveillance state is the seriousness with which the Big Brother moderators on an internet bike forum take their preservation of honor, decency, and decorum.

It's the internet, not a Tuesday night bible study. Shouldn't all views and ideas be shared freely? I accepted my ban when I wished death on Froome and his children, that's obviously over the line. But saying that Froome is a doper on a magic, as-yet-unknown blood booster, I just will not refrain from that. He's on drugs, he's got the arms of a 14 year old girl, and everyone on his team his a pasty, drug-addled sycophant.

I ride around on my cracked femur/pelvis all the time. All-natural, baby. Praise Jesus!! I'm tough!!!
