    5 for 5 Cavendish?

What are your thoughts on Cav winning the last stage for a 5th straight year. I am rooting for him.

It should be a good finish. A lot of excellent sprinters involved. Looks like they are riding on a MUP now...

I'm really enjoying the fact they allowed them to go around the tomb of the unknown soldiers. That shot of them cycling by with it stationary in the background was amazing to see. Would like to see the layout change to this, thoughts?

Tremendous finish. Nice work from Argos Shimano. Clear that nobody can give Kittel a couple of bike lengths and hope to come round him, these days.
There have been many days when I haven't felt like riding, but there has never been a day when I was sorry I rode.

    Yes, a really great finish.

Kittel really had a great leadout, and as you said, you just cannot give this guy that much of a lead and hope to beat him. A big guy in a really big gear! Him, along with Quintana, are the real breakout stars in this Tour.

Cav cannot be happy with that Specialised bike! It was really bouncing all over the road at the finish. I heard he didn't like it much, but I just thought he was looking for something to pin his troubles on, but watching that bouncing bike makes me think he has a point. And he might like this team, but it's not HTC by any stretch of the imagination. As a team, Omega is sporadic at best....

I think that was more to do with the cobblestone he rode over. Nothing to do with his bike. Cav would look very bad if he blamed his bike for this one. He was beat by two faster guys today.

Especially since he apparently had no trouble taking money from Specialized for all those ads that ran constantly through the Tour.

    I don't know.

I watched that replay, and the bike looked awful. Could have been the cobbles, but it might be the bike is a sprinting dog to. The bikes are not discussed much by the media, but not all bikes are equal at all disciplines...

There is nothing about a bike that will cause the rear wheel to bounce 6" in the air. That's due either to poor technique or a bump in the road. I think Cav has the technique so I assume he just hit a cobble.

You are really grasping at straws if you think the bike had anything to do with the sprint today.

He's just not quite at their level in a flat out sprint. But he has his own strengths that serve him well

That Kittel is gonna be something special. I saw him catch Cav from behind in one of the stages he won. That was new, as I had never seen Cav caught from behind before.

If Kittel gets a formidable leadout train, watchout!

He definitely needed his old HTC leadout train for this one. OPQS does not have the train part worked out yet.

Just re-watched the DVR of the final sprint. Cavs bike was everywhere compared to Kittle's and Griepel's. Ligget even mentioned it several times. Looked like he hit bounced on some cobbles with the rear wheel - frame too stiff compared to others or just a bad cobble at the wrong time?

I was dismissed in my posts above for trying to say that Cav's bike might not be worth a darn for sprinting, but he did complain about this bike after one of the stages.

It's the same frame he's been using since 2011 no?

    From CyclingNews -

Cavendish's 2013 bike is different to the one he raced on in 2011 due to Omega Pharma having different component sponsors compared to his then team HTC. While the frame is the same, pretty much everything else is different. SRAM, Zipp and Quarq have taken over from Shimano, PRO and SRM.

I dont know... the other the bikes seem to stay on the ground even if you were take the cobble strike out of it. Im sure Kittel and Grieple are heavier riders but their bikes didnt bounce nearly as much.

So do one or two of Cav's old mates join him at OPQS next year? Or do the waters get muddied by OPQS' adding a GC contender to their roster?

I thought he took all the decals off, was wondering if he was riding off-brand.

I watched the replay several times. Cav's front wheel was splaying out both right and left, perhaps ten to fifteen degrees more than than the other two on each pedal stroke. Sure looks like the bike/rider/road surface combination.
