Great shots1 Love the close-ups. Interesting to me to note the long sleeves (it's still hot here in TX) and the riders riding "naked" with no computers

Great pics! Are you from Montreal? We have air tickets and hotel reservations in Quebec City and Montreal for this years races (2014). Can you recommend some good spots for watching the race(s)? It must include sidewalk tables, coffee and beer!

I am envious. Thanks for sharing these terrific shots.

Hi, yes, I'm from Montreal. Unfortunately there are no 'terrasses' (restaurant/bar exterior seating areas) along the route in Montreal. I'd recommend starting at the start/finish area, which is a park. It'll be 17 laps, so you can walk up Camillien Houde, to spots 1 & 2 on the course map to watch some climbing. You can also check area 10, which is a slight downhill, this would keep you on the course at all times and close enough to make it back to the finish line. I always bike and walk the whole course, taking pictures along the way. There's an interesting climb and descent in areas 6 & 7, the feed zone is also up there, between the two.

I've been to the Quebec City race once. There's one small terrasse on Cote de la Montagne 'La Vendome', which is on a climb, and there's on at the bottom of a descent, Belley, there are a couple along St.Jean and there are a bunch around the start area, on Grande Allee. I'd also recommend walking a circle around areas 9, 10 & 11, making your way back along 12, to the start/finish line. Of course these all depend on how mobile you want to be.

With the Quebec City race, forget about all areas #s 1 to 8, they're not worth trekking out to.

In my photo sets from previous years, I usually state where each photo was taken along the course; Montreal 2012, Quebec City 2011 and Montreal 2011, if you want some reference to what the different parts of the course are like.

Enjoy the races. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

Ah, I see, the Montreal course winds around a park in the center of the city. I see an opportunity for a picnic along the course, a good bottle of wine, some cheeses, meats, and a couple fresh baguettes. Brilliant. It's going to be easy to see the race in Quebec City, our hotel is right in the middle of the areas bounded by areas 9-12! Thank you very much, that is exactly what we were looking for, now I'm thinking we should bring our rides too!
