Coverage of bike races

For the past few years I have found it very frustrating to view many of the cycling races on TV.

While NBC Sports lists races, they are either not covered or the time shown -2am- is not reasonable.

Last summer we were able to download an app for the U.S. Pro Challenge and were able to pick up the stages from Colorado.

I have tried a few links from Steephill but the results have been poor .

Has anyone had any success with other sources?

Thanks, Bruce

There are various methods to record. We use Windows Media center to record onto the PC from cable.

Or download from a torrent site if you don't mind watching a day or 2 later.

Paris-Roubaix was up on cyclingtorrents by the afternoon of the race in full HD - they do a pretty good job there. Plus, I'd rather watch the race at night, than before I wake up in the morning, so the torrents work just fine for me.

You can't beat full HD and no commercials.

Thanks.
I also found some on Universal Sports using my ipad.
It is difficult sometimes because some do not schedule well ie- last night NBCSports had Paris-Roubaix but it was TBD on the schedule and I found out about it after a friend called

Yes, it can be frustrating.

NBC Sports, Universal Sports and BEIN Sports, between them, show most of the "major" races. You usually have to record them and watch later, but that is the case for many sports events. I use a TiVO. Unfortunately, getting all three networks on a cable/satellite TV account is expensive and my cable provider doesn't even offer Universal.

The pirate streams listed on Steephill.tv work "okay", not well. The video is usually overlaid with invitations to download malware or tricky hidden links to dodgy sites. Basically I look for small gray "x" to close those ads, and clicking on "fullscreen" at the bottom right also eliminates the overlays. Sometimes they are region-restricted; try using Google Chrome browser and the Hola plug-in that routes you through a proxy in whatever country you choose. Sometimes they just don't work, so try another one. Resolution is usually low.

I've not tried the torrent sites or the subscription sites like cyclingtv, but mean to soon.

I just deal with the live streams (I actually use procyclinglive). Yeah, they are not great quality, but I love waking up early on Sunday morning and catching a classic live.

I should also note I'm a new member at cyclingtorrents. I signed up a couple weeks ago. I love it there. I donated a little, so I can download HD/DVD stuff now (mainly so I could get the Paris-Roubaix HD free download). I usually only see the peloton in full HD (or even good quality) during the Tour de France, Tour of California and Pro Cycling Challenge. It is nice seeing it in HD, but I save it as a luxury for these events.

Downloading in HD might change that... but these videos are being stashed away for dark days in the pain cave in deep winter when the will to clip-in during gusty blustery conditions alludes me.

Once you seed enough, downloading in HD is no biggy, just gotta keep that ratio up.

It's nice watching all the races in HD...so, so nice.
