I am not a roadie so I don't have my nose in what such equipment costs.... but what is the average cost of the road bikes in the TdF?? What about the TT bikes? I estimated that one complete could hover above $6k and a TT bike is closer to 10k. How close am I?

5k-10k under estimated on the road bikes... Not real sure about the tt bikes.

Average TdF road bike MSRP is roughly $15K.

This is pretty much spot on. It's actually not that hard to guess since you just take the MSRP of the top model for the brand of the bike sponsor. Those usually already have a racing carbon wheel set and most everything, save for a power meter and a few other bells and whistles, that a "standard" pro bike would have.

Today on Balès the animatrix who rides in a motorcycle and makes random race notes and historical commentaries says (in French) "And here comes Lotto's Skoda car with half a dozen Skodas worth of bikes on top of it. Chapeau, global economy!" No doubt she's hilarious. And accurate.

Yeah ... but in the end, bikes don't win races ... riders do. Manufacturers want you to think that the bike is paramount, but it is not. Not even close. So fret not.
