Dissapointing that Jens wasn't brought up to lead them onto the Champs. Hincapie got some love for his final TdF, but not Jensie?

Anyone else notice Phil Liggett calling the Chinese rider a Chinaman?

    Not the preferred nomenclature...

He took it onto himself with his own damn breakaway, better than any charity gimme.

I didn't hear that, not that I'm questioning you. My image of Phil and Paul is that they are surrounded by bottles of fine French wine and that Phil may have his dementia issues but it is all great performance art.

Glad to, myself though, past fields considered. Two strong guys they had in this.

If you've DVR'd it, he says it when there's about 31km left in the stage. I thought it was pretty funny, but mostly, I just wanted to make a Big Lebowski reference.

I heard Phil call him a Chinaman and went.... that was odd....

Speaking of the Chinese rider, not only was the he the first Chinese rider to finish the tour, but put up one of the most dominant performances in winning the red jersey, aka Lanterne Rouge by a whopping 50 minutes.

Oh yea, and he finished last on stage 21 by 4 minutes. (due to a crash)

Chinaman is a British thing, like Irishman, Dutchman or Danishman. Not meant as a derogatory term, just a form of singular demonym.

It also appeared he took his own parade lap, without his helmet, prior to rolling up to SteveS for his interview.

I heard it, but he had a slight pause between China and man. It still sounded odd. It wasn't like "Chinamon." It was more like "China, man." Still doesn't make it right.

He might have been last place among the finishers, but he finished. That puts him ahead of Cav, Froome, Alberto, Talanski and the rest of the starters that did not cross the finish line.

It's an awesome achievement for anyone to finish the tour de france and his role as domestique and breakaway chaser for Kittel's team.
