Washboard

Today I rode a 65 mile route. At mile 20 it return into washboard that was ridiculously unbearable to ride for the rest of the time, the majority of it being on any downhill stretch. I have never been so sore from a ride!

There's an event in September being held on this route, I can only foresee it getting worse...

Any other bad washboard experiences?

West Side Road in Death Valley Natl Park, riding a carbon Crux with 35cm tires.
Didn't look too bad, but riding downhill blurred my vision and almost shook the fillings from my teeth.
Surprisingly, riding back up the gradual grade was not nearly as bad, likely due to the slower speed.

Which road were you on? I am in the springs to and curious.

Usually for nasty washboard roads, stuffing as big of tires that you can in your frame will help a fair bit but if it is many many miles of washboard it may be faster to take a mountain bike if you have one.

Either way washboard roads suck!!
