Fuji Tread 1.5 first ride
So after reading many comparisons of sub $1000 disc brake cross/gravel bikes, I decided on the Fuji Tread 1.5. It was even easier to decide when I got it for under $600 OTD! I picked it up Wednesday & took it out for a 20 mile break-in ride today on (mostly rough) pavement. Very solid, yet smooth ride. The Claris shifting was actually better than I expected, shifts were crisp and quick. The stock tires are sketchy on the sand that now lines many of the roadside's here after the recent rains here in SoCal. I will be replacing the tires with the Club Roost Cross-Terra tires that are currently on the Nashbar frame I had been riding, and will lose 120 grams of unsprung weight in the exchange. Norman gave me the hot tip on some tire deals at Planet-X bikes, so I will be looking into getting my next set soon from them. I was quite impressed with the Fuji Tread's spec, weight and the frame's build quality. The steering is quick & the ride position/geometry were comfortable. It is an eye catcher IMO, with the blacked out look, red accents and red aheadset top cap. At 24.2 lbs. before removing reflectors, it was lighter than most other bikes in the price range. Great bike with a nice frame/fork that you would not feel bad about upgrading components on (if you desire) in the future. Love this bike so far, can't wait to get back out there Sunday!

Congratulations on your first ride!
You got it for a very good deal! I agree at some point in the future you could upgrade to a Tiagra level groupset and be happy with it for a long time.
Based on my experience, the fat tire road bike is a blast to ride. All the skinny tire road bike has got going for it is tradition.
And the endurance geometry is comfortable for the long haul.
