Jake the Snake or XO
I'm looking to get a cross bike to race and to commute. I've more or less decided on the Kona Jake the Snake or the Trek XO1(if you any other suggestions let me know). Which one would you take, considering that they have very similar components, but the Kona is cheaper. Thanks

I don't think you will go wrong with either choice. I am doing exactly what you want to do with your bike. In summer, I race duathlons & in fall, cyclocross. In between, it serves as my commuter & weekend fun bike.

I don't know about the newer XO but I haven't read too many positive reviews on the older XO's when it comes to racing. On the otherhand I've heard a ton of good things about the Kona, they look hot, and they're mountain bikes and downhill bikes kicks a$$. If they're cross bike is even half the quality of one of their mountain bikes I'd consider it a good deal, and for the money you can't beat it.

Thanks for the input. I think I've changed my mind about the XO, however I'm taking a closer look at the Poprad. Any input on the fact that the Poprad has a steel frame and the JTS is aluminum?
