Thanks for the informative review! I'm really interested in this bike, and am trying to read up on as much information as I can find.
I'll throw out the "how tall are you/what is your inseam?" question. I'm really surprised you said this bike runs small as I have read other reviews saying the Haanjo's run big. I'm really confused by the sizing of this bike as a 53 is recommended by Diamondback for rider's up to 5'11. I'm just a hair under 5'10 with a 31.5 inseam, and I like the idea of a a slightly longer top tube than the 53 has, but I think the larger stack/ taller headtube would make the next size up too tall for me. For comparison, I tried a RLT9 in a 56, and thought the reach felt great, but the guys at the shop couldn't get the seat post low enough as it kept bottoming out on the water bottle mounts, and they did not have a 53 for me to try.

I saw one of these in the flesh at REI and liked what I saw. If I were in the market for a new bike, I'd seriously consider plunking some change down on one of these.

Just thought I'd update everyone since I asked about buying the Trail as a road bike. I decided to buy the non-carbon Trail. At $1100 it was $1000 cheaper than the Trail Carbon. I figure with $1000 I can do a lot to try and gain back that pound I lose by forgoing carbon.
Thanks everyone for the replies!

If for some reason they offered the carbon as a frameset I might lose my mind, and buy one. Does anyone know if there's any differences in the frame between the 650b build and the 700c build?

Also - slammed it, since the head tube is so tall.
Hope that helps!

I'm also very interested in this bike (Comp Carbon) but they say it runs big. The graphics showing size on the DB site is broken, but the one on Amazon shows it to running big.

I'm 5'8 and looking at M/53cm but various sources are saying I should get a S/50cm

IMO, the Haanjo bikes run small due to the shallow head angle, shorter (for head angle) top tubes and higher handlebar height due to headtube length.
What size road bike do you normally ride? I usually ride a 73/73 with 54.5cm tt/100 stem and was pretty cramped on my M haanjo comp with 70/73.5 54cm tt and the stock 90mm stem, went to a 110 stem and it fits fine now but I think I'd be just as happy on a L.
At 5'8" I'd recommend a M but if you have really short legs or arms the S may be better. But probably a M is best...

Thanks for the fast reply! I don't have a road bike... only a mountain bike and it's a Medium. I've tried a S and M road bike before, Medium seems better (kicking myself right now for not knowing the exact cm) but I think it was mostly because of the top tube length. I'll mostly be riding this on the road (90-95% of the time). Standover height might be an issue, though I don't think thats an important factor here.

If you live near an REI or Performance you should go test ride some of the gravel bikes on their sales floors as this type of geometry is pretty common on the 2016/2017 crob of gravel themed bikes.

Thanks again. No Performance nearby, the REIs around me have been clearing up floor space for their winter gear. I'd take another look when I get the chance. So you think a medium Haanjo would be similar to say a Specialized gravel bike?
