Wolftooth?

Does anyone know about the wolftooth link? I have a cross bike that I use on the road quite a bit and some of my rides are for mountian goats. My crankset has 46/36 chainrings and Im thinking of going to an 11/36 cassette. Will I need a wolftooth link? Any idea hiw many links the chain will need to be? Also, I have an 11spd 105 group

I have a giant anyroad that came stock with an 11 speed 105 group. 50-34 crank and 11-32 cassette. I got a wolftooth road link and put on an 11-36 cassette. It works quite well. My lbs mechanic installed it along with a new chain.

You chain needs to be no shorter than what you need to work in big/big...Or no longer than what your derailleur cage can properly take up in slack in small/small.

Link counting is tedious, and we'd need to know exactly how long your chain stays are anyway to do math. Easier to just size it right, right in front of you

I use a roadlink on my gravel bike. It has 5800 derailleurs mated to an 11-36T cassette. It was needed for my setup as the RD hit the cassette without it.
My crank is a was 46/36 but is now 46/34 for a little extra help.

I have no idea how many links you will need as you dont mention your cassette size right now and that matters. Regardless, get a new chain and size it on the spot since the other variable is chainstay length. I may have 116 links, but thats on my bike's chainstay length.

The roadlink works great. It hasnt led to sloppy shifting, at least not in my mind. Shifts are still fast and accurate. I can dump the cassette since I use Gevenalle shifters and its accurate even when dropping 9-10 gears at once. Its a really simple piece of machined aluminum, so there isnt much to mess up, but it fit perfectly, which is pretty much what is needed.

Yeah, you will notice a huge difference in 28 vs 36 for sure.
And thats big enough to need a new chain as itd be at least another link or 2 really to make it line up properly.
